KTM 525 out of 07 to 08 Outlaw (Note! Will not fit KTM Quad as I have discovered!)

I bought this engine for my KTM quad but it will not fit. The rear engine mount hole is slightly different.

History: Has been rebuilt in Perth and has had the ball bearing crank conversion done as well as a ported head.

I have been told it has done 10 hours since rebuild.

I have test run it in my Outlaw and it ran well with more power due to the port work.

Comes with carby, header pipe and wiring harness.

$3,500 plus freight.

Call John. 0413 008 250 or PM me.

Can you elaborate please on why the engine will not fit KTM quad? Do you mean XC or SX version?

The engine out of a 07/08 outlaw has the rear engine mount hole about 5 mm higher (or lower, can't remember) than the ktm. The 09 outlaw is the same as the ktm. On the ktm the rear engine mount hole shares the swing arm pivot bolt.

Hope this clears it up for you.

John are you sure? maybe the 07 are different to the 08? because my 08 Outlaw engine went into a KTM XC quad no troubles. slipped straight in, and it took a fellow member on here about 30 mins or so to change the engine from bike to bike using the carby from my outlaw. It was run in the KTM for about 3 months and everything was sweet, nothing came loose or anything like that, seemed like it was supposed to be be there. There is a bolt and a sleeve in the outlaw engine swing arm engine mount wheres the KTM had just a larger bolt, but that was the only thing came up when trying to fit it in becasue he didn't realise there was a sleeve and thought the KTM bolt wouldn't fit. I cannot remember if we ended up using the sleeve and the slimmer bolt or removing the sleeve and using the thicker bolt, but the end result was still the same.

You could be right. I only have an XC, 07 and 09 outlaws to compare to.

I assumed the 07 and 08 were the same. (see what happens when you assume, you make an ASS out of U and ME! Lol.)

Perhaps Polaris changed it for 08.

My bad.

One thing is for sure, the 07 outlaw will not fit in the xc but the 09 will.

The IRS motor won't fit in the SRA so it wont fit in the ktm.

i also believe that there was some differant cases for the IRS and the straight axle polaris up to including the 08 models.

now both the IRS and straight axle polaris are the same cases from 2009 onwards so its not a differant engine just the cases i believe.

Luke B found this out when he went to swap an engine between the 2 in in 08 and they wouldn't fit.
