The RTA is in the process of sending letters (on behalf of NPWS) to inform all people with conditional registration for Stockton Bight about the temporary RVA closure (26 July – 19 September 2010). NPWS is anticipating that all people holding conditional registration for Stockton Bight will receive a letter from the RTA by early next week, informing them about the improvement works and temporary RVA closure.

Closed areas

Lavis Lane access Track

Lavis Lane access track from the junction of Lavis Lane to the mobile dune will be temporaily CLOSED between 26 July 2010 and 19 September 2010 for track upgrade and re-alignment.
These operations are part of essential upgrades to the Lavis Lane track to improve safety and access to Stockton Beach in the Worrimi Conservation Lands.
Alternative access/exit ONLY is via Gan Gan track, Anna Bay.

Recreational Vehicle Area
The recreational vehicle area will be temporaily CLOSED between 26 July 2010 and 19 September 2010 for track upgrades.
The area will be CLOSED to all conditionally registered vehicles (commercially operated vehicles excluded).

Signs regarding the closure have been installed at the entrances to Stockton Beach this week, to advise visitors about the impending closure.

Details about this have also been updated on the Worimi Conservation Lands webpage on the NPWS website via the following links:
http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/NationalParks/parkHome.aspx?id=N1111
http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/NationalParks/parkFireClosure.aspx?id=N1112

The RTA have posted it on their webpage as well at http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/otherinformation/conditional_registration.html?rlid=3

These essential works have been scheduled outside of school holiday periods to minimise disruption to visitors, and while the temporary closures may inconvenience some visitors, when the track re-opens it will be significantly better for all users.

For further details contact NPWS Hunter Region - Telephone 02 4984 8200.

Of course the RTA will be offering a refund of the portion of unused rego to all users?

were dose it say that the RTA will give you anything, it said beach permit. there would be a 1000 RVA user's out there if we all went & got a free permit just think how much cash they would miss out on, hit them in hip pocket were it hurts the most. The track up grade is for the up coming filming of mad max 4, some of it will be filmed at stocko, will interesting to see if they do all the filming in the RVA as you can only use quads trikes beach buggys in this area or is there different rules for people with heaps of cash.

I would guess that movie companies could get UVPs for any vehicles they used in the business of making a movie... also I reckon they would go to a less populated area of the beach...

I strugge to see the need for an upgrade... Running water and Toilet facilities would be higher up on my list...

I was told once that grass was RED but it wasn't true. Ring the National Parks and ask them, don't make assumptions. Where else in the state does it cost per person to enter a park. NO WHERE.
All we need is a beach vehicle permit and rec rego. Commercial operators pay per head for entry.

kosisosko national park you pay per head when you go through the gates.

i was also down in Tasmania recently and one of there parks you pay per head to just to walk around the lake.

NSW Parks dont. Their web sites says "Day passes relate to motor vehicles, not to people, so you only need to pay for each motor vehicle you bring into the park (including motorbikes)."

Parks charging entry fees are generally those which receive very high levels of visitation. In these parks, it costs a lot to provide and maintain roads, visitor facilities and other infrastructure.

Kosciuszko National Park is considering Introduction of winter entry visitor surcharge to NSW skifields see http://www.ipart.nsw.gov.au/investigation_content.asp?industry=5&sector=15&inquiry=56&doctype=7&doccategory=1&docgroup=1 page 44
