Your unlikely to get much any good at that price, and you'd get a lot more done with a front end loader backhoe in a shorter period of time building a MX track.

Try the trading post or find a operator with gear and a interest in quads....

Or you can dry hire one for about $1500 a week.

thanks for the suggestions , but i've seen several in the price range i'm talking about over the last few years. in fact i'm kicking myself that i didnt buy a 753 that one of my customers was selling about three years ago for 4k. it was rough in appearance but more than adequate for what i want it for. as for time to build this little project well , there's no time constraint, and i will have other uses for a skiddy too. so i'd rather own one than pay a contractor to do the job. it'll be pretty expensive to keep getting the contractor back, everytime i want to prep the track dont you think?

i already have a tractor and a grader blade, and we are in the process of making railway line harrows, and i've found an old tip truck that will do just fine as a water cart/tipper, once i rig up a gantry to lift and secure a tank on and off the tip tray.

cheers anyway

Plenty of bargains out there as a lot of repos and broken dreams hitting the market in big numbers. Sad You can be lucky. And you can get a severe case of broke with skid-steers. eek

I've only been doing machinery for 30 years or so, and given what you have now said you're up to, yes, owning a functional bit of plant is a better option in the long run.

But, knowing a contractor who wants to do a bit of MX racing is the easiest way of getting a track built cheaply. It's a mutually benificial arrangement. Very Happy

I've just seen a 100k's worth of GOOD equipment scooped up for less than 20 grand, so you may find something that suits.

Good luck with it.

Ive got a 2sdk8 getting a engine built at the moment, looking at about 6k when finished, but may be a couple of months of yet. It's at a Toyota skid steer place and there pretty slow to finish it.
