the story goes like this....Well the plans were put in place early last week for me to meet a group of people in Anglesea for a weekend ride. these blokes consisted of trail bikes & one 4x4. There was plenty of interest in the new kid on the me block "Me the bloke with the ATV"...after answering 50 thousand questions which started with "is that one of those cheap & nasty quads?"...my reply everytime was " you can judge for yourself once we hit the dirt"...anyhoot i was told to be at the holiday house by 9:30 so we can go...i made sure i was there by 8:45...when i got there these blokes your all asleep because of a big night, not to worry i got unloaded, did my last minute bike check & got partly suited up.
(lets fast forward to 11:45am) yep that was the time these boys finally got there Shite together. We headed out only to get 5kms up a dirt service rd & the old 250 trail bike breaks down. Un-known to me the owner was well aware that his chain was very loose the day before but did nothing about it. 20min later we set off again. we end up 15kms down the rd to a pub for a nice hot lunch which went down well. An hr after that we set out again, the two lead bikes who were showing us the way were on the hunt for new places to explore so after gate closure after gate closure & over 2hrs of boring dirt service rds we ended up back near there house to some tracks they had used in the past. Now given all the mid arvo "exploring" failures we end up doing a 20km loop on orange clay , fine sand, coarse sand, gravel tracks & a crap tonne of mud/water which were unreal. Running out of light fast we headed back to the house. Sitting around the fire all of us having a chat about all things bike related the 2wheeler boys liked what the ATV could do mostly commenting on the ease of which it could scale a greasey slippery hill clmib while they were getting all crossed up & dropping there bikes left , right & centre..(which gave me a good laugh) I also had a run against a KTM 525 2wheeler which was alot of fun, he was somewhat suprised that the my 450 kepted up no worries & pulled away before a sharp corner slowed us down. These boys hit the piss straight away & i tried to talk a few of them into sorting out there bike dramas before they were pis2ed as mutes but they werent interested. I was the old fart there @ the grand old age of 32 so while they went out on the town i kicked back @ the house with the youngies who got rejected from entering the pubs/clubs so i quietly went about checking my bike over for loose bolts, fuel top up & general stuff while they carried on as u do @ that age. My 4x4 mate stayed back aswell doing a bit of creative panel beating to his car after some trail battle damage.
( fast forward to 12 noon on Sunday) 4x4 mate & i were up & ready....everyone else?...passed out, badly hungover or clinically dead with little movement. 4x4 mate & i not knowing the area well enough to venture out nor did either of us have our GPS's with us. My weekend was over....My day got worse. One of the blokes who chained up our bikes with a killer lock up rig lost his keys while stumbling home during the early hrs of the morning so this added to the mornings fun & i was starting to get a bit edgy. after he got up & backtracked with no luck & refused to allow anyone to take an angle grinder to his be-loved lock i was stuck there for another hr longer then i should of b4 i finally lost the plot & took to his lock with the grinder so i could get the hell out of there (he wasnt happy about it) but i did throw him a few $$$ i put towards a new lock. Packed up , hand shakes & goodbyes to the people alive i went home....Once home & told Mrs B about the events of Saturday & Sunday she was ticked off that after i worked out i only did 6hrs all up of riding she said "bloody hell u could of hit the local hills & done more riding in a day run" which was spot on i decided i wont be riding with that crew again...nice groups of young people but just so unorganised....the people i have ridden with in the past make the most out of there day by getting out in it early so they can get back to camp/house for a bite of lunch, have a few hrs rest then get out for another arvo session....sorry no photo's but if u exclude all the service rd riding the tracks & hill climbs i did do were great!!

Sounds like a bugger of a weekend. I had one of those about 2 months ago. Went for a trip away with a bunch of blokes, 2 wheelers and quads. I was the one that keeped braking down. Day 1 which was the Thursday we arrive about lunchtime and unloaded. Packed everything into our rooms. Started the quad and realised I didn't have any front brakes. After bleeding the brake twice, one of the other's realised that some plastic was stuck in the front wheel. He placed it there when we got ice. So I pushed the bike over to my car to fix it. When pushing, the tyre went flat. The wheels had a reversed valve on the inside (thanks Quad) . Lucky I brought a spare front wheel. Changed the front tyre and went for a ride. That arvo a few others showed up and wanted to see the flat track. I jumped at the chance to show them. Whilst hooking around a corner I got sideways and backed off the throttle..... Bad move. The quad grabbed and rolled. I land on my shoulder (which I found out later that I dislocated my AC joint). I picked myself up and rode back to the house.

The next day (Friday) was trouble free for me.

Woke-up on the Saturday to a flat battery. Left it on overnight. After roll starting about 10 times the battery was ok. As we were going up a hill my chain came off and got jammed in the front spocket. One of them went to get tools and after about 1.5 hours everything was sweet again. By that time I thought I was cursed so I didn't ride on the Sunday. Other then this it was a great weekend. I would jump at the chance to do it again in a heartbeat.
