Don't know much about the can-am's but the yamaha is a great bike and so is the suzuki we've had both. The suzuki is better we think though as you can pick them up brand new for around $10,000 and they are full race width ready to go add nerfs steering dampner and a cherry bomb and you've got a race ready competitive bike with change left over from what you would have paid for your yamy which you would have to go buy all the same items for on top of the $12,000 you just spent as well as a longer axel and longer a arms to get it the same width as the suzi (all up about $15,000) so it just comes down to how much you want to spend as they are all equal bikes in power and build strength.
Just don't buy a KTM, mate has one it spends more time on the back of his ute (broken down) than it does on the track!!!

Aren't the new 2010 Yamaha YFZ450R's race width now?

You forgot to add the MXR 450 and that green KFX and orange KTM

I think there are all good as each other been looking for a while miself.

As someone had said to me, look at parts cuase you are going to need them..

Can-am not so easy to find parts for yet
Suzuki easier
Yamaha abundance.

I would bet if you had a problem at the track our in the bush someone may have somthing that will fit the two later ones in there kit....

----------------Just my two cents worth---------------

Not sure about the yamis being race width but even if they are you can still get a suzi race ready (nerfs, dampner etc) for the cost of a new yami don't get me wrong i do think the yamis are a good bike as i mentioned it all comes down to what you can afford to spend.

Out of the box the Can-Am and the KTM are the only race ready quads.......

the YFZ450R model is still under spec as far as MX goes and does need to be widened (it is wider than it used to be though) so if the Kato is out of the price range then I would say betweeen the LTR and DS 450's that it probably comes down to what sort of deal you get.... both are equally capable quads, the DS has slightly better running gear in that is comes with nerfs, beadlocks and better shocks

If you want a really good all round bike try the 2009 ktm 450 xc.. they on sale atm and they go hard.. nt as wide as a the motocrosser.. but better motor to flog and less maitenance.. i got and xc and a sx and prefer the xc any day.. best suspension standard on the market and they are quicker then any other standard 450.. had them all on speedway tracks and ktm always out front.. it stock
