ok guys been talking to the guys at the mx track about the feed back from my last post and this is how it goes...

the officials at fort lytton mx track has asked for a 4 quad minimum however to make up a class to ride they want six quads.

so what im saying is they want six riders on the grid to make up a race class however if there is only 4 junior riders they will have to make the cost of the other two riders not present but there is some flexibility.

the interest has been awesome and as this club is not MQ affiliated between them and us quad riders we will be able to work out classes. i have seen there is some ladies and kids on china quads and we want to make them all welcome so what were going to do is get you guys to show me your interests please PM me with your type of quad and what riders, mums daughter, sons, grandpa want to ride.

you dont have to be fast to race just come and have some fun.

lets all book in the date of the 25/4/10 sunday to bring your kids ,wives, china bike to fort lytton

here is the website check it out
http://www.fortlyttonmx.com/

riding will cost as a non member for a junior $30 practice.

we are also interested in letting the big bikes come and run the track on practice days we need a minimum of six quads.

so this is a positive step forward i was was talking to Luke beechey the other day who is keen to get involved and have been told that Paul from gold coast quad is also interested in helping also so please support the guys that are supporting us.

im am happy for anyone to contact me anyone time 0430731366 before we can work out any classes we need to see whos going to turn up on what machine.

this is a big brake through for junior/chinga/women in Queensland.

on a personal note we wanna buy a junior leatt adveture brace does any one know the best deal.

Hey Dazz,

Everyone knows how much fun quads are ...... but no one said it would be cheap !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe they might be able to do a family discount ....

I think that getting all interested together on the 25th will be a terrific day . This is a great opportunity for junior quad riders to go forward in leaps and bounds. Senior riders would love to have another place to practise so I hope plenty turn up on the day to have a show of numbers .

Jed 13yrs honda trx300ex

Hudson 8yrs 110cc china

Scott ??? yrs raptor 700

Well done Kevan !!! Its great having people in the quad community like you who are making things happen for all to benefit.
Looking forward to catching up
thanks scotty.

$30 per rider for a practise day is pretty standard, most race days are around $60 per rider and $150-250 for national/state rounds. Its a small price to pay for a safe environment for kids to learn and ride in.

As far as the Leatt brace is concerned try to support the local shops but Failling that www.BTOSPORTS.com is your best bet great price about 1/2 of what you pay here

>>Hey Dazz, Everyone knows how much fun quads are ...... but no one said it would be cheap !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <<

well at $150 a week end with the possibility of it being as much as $1000 for racing its not bloody happening ... my kids will stay on the trails thank god for the Wyaralong park that will open later this year perhaps you can plan some enduro rides out there instead ......

on a side note Do you know if quad bikes have any representation in the development of the trails out at Wyaralong or has that been left to bike riders has Queensland Quad Association been in contact with the developers yet ?

>>Maybe they might be able to do a family discount ...<<.

lets hope its huge cause it looks like unless your the children of james packer then they wont be riding ft lynton

your doing a good job guys but your going to miss the family boat its way to much money for any family sport ... it suit some one with 1 kid... i could pay off a house for the same cash , infact my kids could all have brand new yammys and we could just bypass the chinas alltogether and hit the trails for free out the back of the gold coast for free......

final thought ....

We need a much Cheaper option the MX option for familys is not a good one while it remains this expensive id rather leave it be ....

Hello I would be interested in the club day and so would my wife possibly will keep you up dated on that.

Dazz no offence dude but you brought a motorbike these things are a toy toys cost money $30 is cheap for practise especialy when these guys are on their own when it comes to insurance (not MA backed) the fact that these guys are willing to give kids a go on the cheaper chinese bikes is fantastic as no MA track will allow you.
As for being James Packers kids I understand times are tuff and $150 is a lot of money to most people but this sport costs lots of money to support now as insurance is not cheap (thanks to low lifes that defraud insurance companies and won't take responsibility for there own actions) and general running costs. When i started racing 16 years ago we used to pay $10-$15 for riding only 50% of todays rates but i only payed 44c/L for fuel and $200 a year to rego the car! (man i loved thos days $22 would fill the car) anyway back to reality bottom line- bikes cost money, kids cost money, bikes and kids = @#%t loads of money thats just the way it is.
Anyway I hope the club will offer some sort of family discount would be great to see lots of kids there.

Hey Dazz,
just another thought maybe for go the mods on your raptor for a couple weekends at a real track where your kids can pick up valuable skills and advice?? Alot of parents ride at camp aways etc with their kids but dont race so they can further their kids at race meets. If you can legally ride the trails with your family in Qld, then you are luckier than most states cos we dont have that luxury in SA.

fort lytton mx club have been very generous with there offer to help out the quad riders here in queensland i feel asking them for a discount would be an insult

hey i know times are hard and that just how much it costs.Black duck used to charge more than that and stanmore and reedy are about the same price so thats why i put a date of the 25/4/10 so the people interested will be able to save and come out.

if i had one kid id be there with bells on and with out trying to be to rude to the last two comments ....

i think your talking with a blind fold on... for a start you have no idea how much i can or cant afford nor does that have any relation to what i spend or dont spend on my quads....

all im saying is this is too much money for familys regardless of the economical climate... while your fight might be for lests get kids racing .. mine is for lets get familys racing familys have rights to ride our bikes as they pay tax too you know. and besides kids cant cant race without there family ..

and while its a kind gesture of the ft lynton track to let familys ride there , and a awsome idea to have china quads as a cheap option for kids to start racing you shouldnt start thinking that will work for all familys ...

Just out of interest how many kids do you guys have that are riding and what age are they and what are they riding on ?

we have 5 quads and 1 bike...

for us thats $150 a week for practice now add to that the 3 kids racing 1 time a month at say $300 for the day ... add fuel to get there ...bike maintence .... and now its not prcatical for any family dude unless your realy rich which you must be to make such a comment in the first place.....

yes it might be ok to look down your nose and say just forgo some mods to my own raptor each week to take the kids to the " motocross track" the only place they can "learn some real skills" .....

but mate i can take the kids for a week each moth to manor park for cheaper and buy them all yamahas with the change plus theres a lot more riding to be had there for them it even has multi mx tracks and i can assure you the people there are just as freaking skilled as anywhere else infact there 100% Quad family Savy...

i want it all not just a bit of the pie stuff mx just bring on GNCC style racing for familys.........

Ahh YES Dazz,

But take out the cost of fuel to drive to manar; accomodation ; food ; the $25 it costs when you stop at the servo and everyone wants a drink , icecream and /or chocolate ; etc ; etc .

Any way you look at it it is going to cost money [ lots of it] .

QQRA is having a practice day at coolum on the 10th of april and this is $30 for the day plus $20 for a day license if you don't have a MA license. Do the maths ????
Damn Dazz that would cost your family $250 for the day. Now that's getting to be serious coin. Its almost as expensive as a day at the "ECCA"

"You can only do what you can only do"

Maybe one day we'll have a MX track in every town/suburb supplied by the council like we have skateboard parks !! S**t who dreaming now!!!

I am prepared to give this a go as I would like to try and give my family the chance to get around a real mx track ; Hell they might do a days riding and love it or they might prefer the wide open spaces of the bush.

" you'll never-never know if you never-ever go"

My wife and daughter aren't interested in mx but they love riding at manar ! Jed can't wait to race /mx and my other son is undecided as I have to get rid of his 110cc china to get him something that will allow him to be comfortable and function properly on a track.
I personally prefer the bush / GNCC riding and a 700 raptor is hard work on mx track , but I'll have ago just to ride with my boys.

Anyway ,enough of my rambling...........

thanks scotty.

not looking down my nose at you fella i understand its alot of money but thats racing
family riding isnt that dear if you compare it to bowling or the movies you'll get no change out of $150 for either of those. racing no matter what dicipline is an elitist sport requiring money and lots of it.
There will never be cheap family racing all the time you have a hole in your arse that is just the way it is. If you want to participate in GNCC style events the cost wil lbe even more than motoX due to the effort to run such events. For yourselves and those in similar situations trail riding is the only alternative but they are generally on private property and have a day fee to ride. generally all trail riding on public lands is illegal due to a lack of rec rego in most states but people still do it creating a bad rap for those that obey the rules. Generally those that wont pay to ride somewhere legal isnt out of a lack of funds how ever those people wouldnt hesitate to spend $500 on loud power pipe cos they need that extra 3 hp for trail riding and proceed to piss off the locals causing ride areas to be shut down. so i am sorry if you felt i attacked you but i found the way you dismissed quadmad's arrangement, cos it didnt suit you a bit harsh. It also isnt every weekend so far it is a one off to show that there is a demand from the quad community. But it seems you have decided not to be a part of it so i wont discuss it any further. keep it safe on the trails and post up some pics of your ride area I'll be in Qld later in the year and love a bit of trail riding

Well said JRE,

A night at the movies is $80-100 for 5 with popcorn and a drink .Not to mention KFC or macca's before or afterwards.
Try taking the family to sizzler now that 2 of the kids have to pay adult prices.....
Life is getting so bloody expensive......

thanks scotty.

Two wheelers for the kids that ride there.

DV 1 4 years to 6 years 50cc
DV 2 6 years to 8 years 50cc to 110cc
65cc open
85cc open till 15 years old

OK, so i am new to all this, My son has had his Quad Raptor 80 for a few years but we have never gone to a mx track. He is nearly 9 and we dont have a mq licence etc... Was wondering if it would be good for him to do this and whats involved/required etc... Confused I will ring the mob # tomorrow and ask some q's. Is it true that no mq licence is required at Lytton? i have no idea what to expect or ask. We used to just go bush for him to ride his quad, but want somewhere close and legal, so that he can improve and ride more.
Cheers ppl
Sarah

yip no MQ licence needed which is a good thing as far as cost goes for us. Fort Lytton mx has here own insurance which will save you havin to pay $25 for a day licence,
When we go there on the 25th it is a fun day for the kids and a chance to ride a mx track and see it they like it or not, we will not send out slow kids with fast kids as it's about being safe and havin some fun.

The main thing is that the kids learn about the flags and what they mean when put in front of them .

Hey,

Jed 13yrs on a trx300ex.
Hudson 8yrs on a 110cc chinese or a 90cc japanese [if I can find one for the right price as his birthday is the 18th April and he's been bugging me for a new quad for a while].
I might throw the 700 raptor on the trailer and have a lap or twol.

thanks scotty.
