hi all,
just wanted to know if anyone has or uses a headset when riding to talk to other riders? such as the scala rider system http://www.cardosystems.com/homepage .
cardo has just released a new system that will have 4 ppl talking to each other. but at $700 a pair its a bit much just to talk crap when riding.
i have used a system when i was in 4wd competition but it will only work between 2 people.
any one know what else to use?
cheers Troy |

Hi Tony,
I don't know about that Cardo system but I've been on jobs where we've used VOX with UHF handhelds. Just a little ear-plug and a wrap around mike plugged into a belt or pocket mounted handheld.
When the back-ground noise wasn't too bad, they worked OK. I don't really know what brand they were but I think they were UNIDEN. The company bought them from a mob in WA called Prestige Communications.
Hope that helps. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

the head set i have used & still do when im riding with just one other person is a full duplex system. (just like being on a phone) this means we can talk with out pushing a button
uhf is a half duplex system. (push to talk setup) i might have to just go with a uhf set up but its hard to go back to after using a full duplex system. |

the head set we still use when riding is a full UHF system,
The ear pieces are like flat head phones that sit in the helmet and the mice raps around the front inside of the helmet, and there are voice activated, connected to a UHF hand held, from memory they were only about $80.00 not including the UHF unit
Ill Try and get some details from my mate who bought them. _________________ 04 Polaris Predator 500 with mods

Mate the Scala setup you are looking at is the ducks nuts. It will bluetooth to your phone and GPS and plug an audio device in all whilst being able to talk to 4 other riders. With this system you definatly pay for what u get. If your not interested in all those options it might pay to go down the UHF setup or look on fleabay at some of the cheaper setups.
Good luck with it. |
