 |
|
This was a brand new NGK R plug I put in my raptor 700 today.
I hadnt even ridden this raptor b 4 but the bike ran and started fine, just when I reved it, it sounded like it hit the rev limiter b4 i even got to 1/2 throttle then after a slow ride throught the gears and warm it up I turned around to head back to the car then went to rev it out but the same thing happened it was braking down like a rev limiter,
then pop, the engine dies and I looked down to find this.
I got the snaped off thred out of the head with an easy out.
any ideas what could cause this to happen?? coil, computer, TPS?????? _________________ He Who Dies With The Most Toys, Wins

| it wouldnt be possible to do it up that tight to sheer it off without stripping the alloy outer the head. if it was a internal pressure issue it would have bent the rod before blowing the plug out, so that only leaves a faulty plug from manufacturer, that was maybe overtightened a bit which exposed the crack, and then the combustion pressue did the rest. |

Dodgy plug. This type of damage would only be indicative of excessive tightening of an old plug subjected to corrosion, heat etc. over a long period of use, not a brand new one on its first run. _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |

whats the common dominator here?
you / supplier / brand and type
ive never had a dodgy ngk plug and you seem to be finding all the broken ones. maybe change supplier or something.
have they came from the same shop?
are they BR8ES?
maybe try the BR8EIX iridiums. |

i did buy the plugs from the same shop but about 6 months apart..
i think i just swap to a different brand of plug for good.
So does any 1 have any idea what could be wrong with the raptor for it to be hitting the rev limiter so low in the rev range, its doing it at about 3500rpm, and wont rev no more... _________________ He Who Dies With The Most Toys, Wins

| do you have to pry the plug socket out on a wierd angle causing sideways strain on the plug??? It would be super unlucky to have it crack like that with out force. |

thats me...
the plug is very easy to get to, and its very easy to get the plug cap on and off, no sideways strain at all. _________________ He Who Dies With The Most Toys, Wins

| I have heard of issues with ngk plugs since they haven't been making them in japan. Used to swear by them but have switched to denso now. |

Nar I'm not 30, still got quite a few years to go.
I've just had over 9 weeks off and used My sickies and annual leave days. _________________ He Who Dies With The Most Toys, Wins

I havent had enough of the Banshee's yet, I cant see it ever happening, the Raptor is for Amanda,
I bought the red 07 shee for her but I ended up borrowing it for mx, finke and trail riding I loved it too much to give it back so I had to get her something else, and she doesnt like kick starting bikes. _________________ He Who Dies With The Most Toys, Wins
