I don't think anyone minds him stepping into the the ring to support the bike he loves, but no one likes to listen to such a narrow minded veiw on things.
The biggest thing I lernt when i was at Budds Creek is that nobody over here should be looking at say Tim Farr or Doug Gust's bike and saying "I want his shocks and I want his engine" because I don't think anyone over here could handle those bikes. We should be looking the top B grade bike and the A grade bikes and saying "I want what they have" because thats where we are at!!! Thats why we are so far behind the Yanks because they have been doing it long enough to know exactly what they need.

I agree with what you say above 110% .
But if you think a Suzuki is a better full race quad in any grade Im sorry I dont agree and The proof is in the USA in any grades.Yes the Australian Quad scene is in the Embryo stage ,plus there are few riders in Australia riding 3 x 30 Min motos on there fully blown MX tracks on a Daily basis,5 days a week, give it a few years and Australia will have our Quad version of Chad Reed .
I like your style Smitty and as a person I think your great bloke ,I just dont agree with your opinions...Sorry! I thinks we should look to Farr ,Natalia and in particular the 39 year old gust as inspiration as they are the best so for all you up and comming potentials why not aim high!
If you think I am full of chit and you want to ignore the statistics or facts ,so be it ! Yes I do like to Argue a point ,that I believe in!
Im comfortable with that.

Hi Pete
I think your a reasonable sort of bloke and may actually like helping people
Since you have started this thread I am eager to know some things about you ,as this may determine who is really full of it ?
A)Yes I have been racing and spannering Quads since the Mid 80's and am still enjoying it .
Q)How many years have you been spannering and racing quads ?
A) Yes I have acumulated some podiums and am happy to of raced, contributed to the sport I love , past and present
Q) Again how many years have you contributed ,tracks raced and podiums achieved?
A) Honda is the most winning quad right now..thats a fact,no matter how you want to pacakage it.
Q) If you dont like Honda and Like Suzuki so much, why dont you give the Honda Race plan quads back and backward move into the Suzuki camp ?
I feel I have spoken the truth and given you facts ,then you come out of the blue and say Im full of it ? You should start a thread that will help generate business from this site instead of putting your energy my way:D
FOS,Na I dont think so.
Annoying ?Got me !

Well this is a turn around isn't it. Me upsetting you
To start with I never said you were full of "profanity removed" Lenny, in posting this poll (aside from having a bit of a joke at your expense ) I was more refering to the fact that we don't all need to read the same stuff about Honda from you in every thread, especially when the threads aren't about comparison between models or Honda related.
My sincere apologies if I've offended you.
PeteW.
For the record
Race Quads running under the Southern Quads banner.
06 LTR450 Pro Class - Paul Smith
06 LTR450 Production Class- Paul Smith
06 TRX450R Womens A - Sairs Wilhelms
05 TRX500R Pro Class - Matt Dunston
04 YFZ450 Enduro - Me
05 DS90 Junior 90 - Adam Larson
and well also be looking after Adam's Blaster when he goes up to the Junior 200 class at the next round.
I have been spannering on race quad for the last 5 years but have only been activley involved with trackside support for the last 3. I have a long history of spannering on high perfomance dirtbikes too.
I don't consider myself a racer but more enjoy just going for a ride (does'nt stop me from trying when I do get a chance to race) and have been riding ATV's recreationally since the Mid 80's (from when I was about 6 or 7) _________________

Sorry Len but I had to tick the yes box. However I do admire your passion for the sport.
The Honda in a fully modified form is certainly a weapon of a bike hence why they are so competitive in the states but in my opinion there are very few riders here in Australia that can really harness that sort of horsepower. Yet.
Quote : The biggest thing I lernt when i was at Budds Creek is that nobody over here should be looking at say Tim Farr or Doug Gust's bike and saying "I want his shocks and I want his engine" because I don't think anyone over here could handle those bikes. Thats why we are so far behind the Yanks because they have been doing it long enough to know exactly what they need.
YOU HAVE TO CRAWL BEFORE YOU WALK
There is no point having a bike with massive HP if the rider isn't fit enough or skilled enough to use every ounce of it.
It is no secret that my 435cc KFX is underpowered in the current Vic Pro MX field but through setting the bike up to get good traction, correct gearing and plenty of throttle input it still seems to be reasonably competitive.
As far as production bikes go the Suzuki wins hands down, anyone who disagrees clearly needs their eyes tested. |
