As above
I was undoing the sump plug bolt and instead of the bolt coming out, its sheared the whole section it screws into itself - only way is to replace or weld - and im not even sure i can do that due to the steel thickness
anyone ?

A engineering shop should be able to drill it out OVERSIZED, and then re-tap it and replace your sump plug with one to fit. Or fix it other ways in the black art of metal fabrication.......
Payment will probably exceed two decapitated roosters _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

| Pretty easy fix, youcould drill out and retap as was suggested or use a thing called a "Helicoil" |

thanks guys - the problem is that the bolt hasnt stripped the thread, but the bolt and the thread has sheared off the resevoir
so instead of having a stripped hole where a bolt should go, there is just a hole itself
thinking about getting it welded back on...? |

I read it correctly the 1st time.
You'll need to take the resevoir off to get a decent go at it, regardless of who or how it's fixed OR replaced.
Whether the material is steel or alloy and how it's torn out willl probably determine how it'll be fixed.
If it's , like most sumps, then it'll be a thin shell with the sump plug assembly welded or brazed into a hole drilled thru the shell........
Easy fix with gear and knowledge.
If it's a costum finned alloy jobbie.....
It may well be better to replace it.
With the wisdom of hindsight, only tighten the new one to the required amount. _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.
