I am having lots of problems with first a Sportsman500 and now a 550 with overheating. Seems to be quite common up here in Nth Aust. with Polaris. On 500 replaced fan, new Elec Control Module, flushed radiator, cleaned radiator fins, still boiled especially when using low range 4WD. (another Polaris boiling that I know of was caused by a faulty circuit breaker dropping out). However, by disconnecting the fan and then running the fan continuously with direct hookup to battery, no problem. Problem seems to be with the ECM; even when the display is showing "hot - check engine" or boiling, the fan is still cutting in and out - it should be running continuously. According to Polaris US the ECM can be programmed specially for hot climates but no one seems to know anything about it here. Any help anyone?

Hi Auyeah,

What vintage is the Sportsman 500?

Have you had it checked out by your dealer? I have found the actual Polaris tecnical dept pretty easy to deal with
