The girls found a oily peewee. After everything this year, I can't "put it out of it's misery" as suggested because chicken is already attached to it. so how do I clean the oil off?

Peg it up on the line and hit it with the Gerni. Make sure you put something on it's head though so it doesn't get soap in its eyes. laughing laughing

Mild detergent. Dishwashing stuff is ok but better too weak than too strong. no more than luke warm. Gently wash in and gently stroke and pat dry with cotton tea towels. The shock of handling can result in the poor thing not making it. Good on yer and good luck.

Bit of RP7 should do the trick Wink
on a serious not however, maybe just dog/cat shampoo and wash it in bucket of warm water. You could also ask a vet.

fossil - Rolls eyes

jono - thought of a vet or rspca or animal welfare group but it is after hours Hrm

Todd - are you sponsored by CRC?

dino - Jade found a website that says the animal rescuers use 1% dawn dish liquid (cause they are sponsored by them) so we tried what we had. as per your suggestion - we used weak quantity and changed the water about 7 times. It still looks oily but I suppose we shall see how it is in the morning.....

Thankyou for the replies

pretty much the best thing to use is cheap dishwashing detergent - pretty much the cheaper the better as anything that is "environmentally friendly" or "gentle on hands" won't get alot of the oil film off. you can also use it in about the same concentration you would wash the dishes in. And as a previous post said, luke warm temp. And yes sometimes the shock can be enough to end them - so don't be disheartened if it doesn't pull through.

After you have cleaned it, dont forget to keep it warm... an old shirt in a box that it can snuggle into..
