Anyone ever modified a banshee swingarm to take a round house bearing carrier say out of a LTR or something with a steel outer so as a lighter alloy carrier can be fitted and the chain can be adjusted easier. Also thinking of shortening by 1" for more hookup, suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks _________________ Has turned to the Dark Side! |

good idea.
your prob better off designing it to suit an off the shelf banshee round carrier, so you can still use banshee axle/brakes/sprocket etc.
the carrier is actually what does all the work, with the brake mounting plate and its all on an eccentric so you can adjust the chain easily.
the actual round housing is simply a piece of tube with a gap in it and pinch bolts so it clamps the carrier, so it shouldnt be too hard to just cut off the old carrier mounts and modify the swinger to accept the round carrier. youd just have to make sure the housing had the right bore size to accept the carrier.
plenty of people shorten em up over on bansheehq, have a look in the suspension section of the forum.
ashnery might chime in soon with a suggestion or two, hes good at that sort of stuff! _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |
