Well Guys it is official The Jail Break Kamfari 500 is now confirmed. DMCC has been granted the old Jail at Gunn point to conduct the Toughest quad /bike race in Australia. One element of the track will be riding though the buildings then on to a man made special test then back into swamps for a full 5 hours.
This year the terrain should awesome as their are 3 large lagoons that surround the jail. Big name riders like Brad Williscroft ,Shane Diener ,Adam Rieman Waldo Hussie will compete for the cash and trophies on the honor of winning Australia's longest running race 38 years.
Australia best riders come for the challenge of finishing as not many do and were proud of it. So when you get your finishers trophy you are a select few to have them.
Our budget has increased so we'll put on a great show.
For more info just pm me fill you in on what need to ride the Kamfari _________________ Truth and Honor and Trust ... never under estimate Them.

NT MOTORCYCLE CENTRE KAMFARI Jail Break 2009 have come on board today as Major sponsor which gives us a great boost for prize money and advertising . 5 hours of continuous riding is pretty tuff. The shot gun start will continue as tradition . _________________ Truth and Honor and Trust ... never under estimate Them.

Guys fianally get you blokes to come to Kamfari and it looks like it might be a dry one. there is 2 creek crossings and 1 swamp ( full of crocs) and a rather smelly dam. This the first year I won't be riding . In all looks to be about 2km of boggy stuff. the rest normal enduro type stuff. Humidity is still high at the moment for there is a cyclone to the north of us.
Still 5hours is going sort the men for the boys. _________________ Truth and Honor and Trust ... never under estimate Them.

Well its hard to type I'm that sore. I'm not sure but
Nathen Thring 1st Kawa Bruteforce 750
Eddie Tattingham blaster 200
Matt Stone trx 700
Many leaders over the day. well into the 4th hour I was still on the lead lap.
Even though there wasn't much swamp the carnage on the first lap you will only see in the Kamfari.
I think Bullet came 4th and one other not sure where.
Bad day Yamaha Grissly even worst for Can am. Kawa was best 3 from 3 and I think Polaris had 5 from 6 finishers . the sole Suzi finished . The DS 650 went well all day. don't worry this was still a 4x4 race
Disappointing that the Mashalls didn't protrol the swamps like they should have. Still a good race in all .
anyway hope to put some pics up soon _________________ Truth and Honor and Trust ... never under estimate Them.

I will not go back on my last post about the mashalls. DMCC meeting at Cazely's if you want to take it further.
Amazing the people who read this forum.
AS for rest of us who had best time getting dirty.
Ok the track and conditions where the same for all competitors . as in all enduros you ride as fast as the conditions allow. As for the trees (I too hit 4 hundred of them myself and I'm not whinging) they didn't move, yep still in the same spot before the race and after the race . As the rules say you can ride round them if you like. I just wonder what riders think when their tyre go flying off into scrub, maybe I should slow down abit.
I personally seen the winner roll his quad on the first lap and thought thats the end of him. But to his credit rode consistent and the help of a lot of DNF 's 5 hours later was the winner.
Happy now sir

Going a different way maybe?
Well, I'm lucky enough to have done Kamfari now,
And what an awesome experience the whole event is.
It's very different in so many ways, and like Husky's been saying all along...
'Something that everyone should do one day'.
The real stand out above all the differences was just how hard this race is on bikes.
And it wasn't even a tough year.
My borrowed Renegade went perfect the whole race (thanks to Territory Marine),
but there were about 100 reasons that anyone might not finish the first lap, and many entrants didn't.
A lot of fast guys just ended up hitting bigger trees a lot harder.
I'd never even seen a real swamp before, so it was a real eye opener for me.
Maybe the locals take it a bit for granted, but cutting your own race line flat out in the middle of a swamp, slamming through dead trees, lillies, weeds etc in the middle nowhere is a really freaky sensation.
Some race lines through the swamp were near on one metre deep grey/black slime, and the meanest of 4x4's were getting bogged in it.
That might sound pretty disgusting to some but getting hideously muddy for the whole day is really not that uncomfortable in Darwins 30'something degree temperatues.
I don't think you'll see more variety of terrain in one race either.
All it lacked was a few hills (which would be rare in swamps I guess ).
I didn't see any croc's either (don't know if i'm happy or unhappy about that) but hell, you are right in their dining room, that's for sure
I learnt a lot and loved the riding.
All the people are great and the big crowds get right into cheering the racers on.
If you have not been to Darwin... use this event as your excuse to do so.
Highly recommended (even to those who say they don't like mud).

I have to give Territory Marine a wrap. Steve needs a pat on the back for his efforts on the weekend.
Bullet rode the race right. Next year year mate you will be up for the win.
My plan for the race was never take the same line twice. and it worked for a while . You can't explain what the track looked like when you hit the swamp.
Many times I ploughed into bush and hoped it was clear on the other side.
The first lap I seen 3 rolled quads, 7 bogged quads and a mashall bogged to the eye balls.
Funny not at lot of pictures of the swamp. _________________ Truth and Honor and Trust ... never under estimate Them.
