Home made 5 quad trailer, will sleep 5 (1 x double and 3 singles) will have A/C, hot water, full insulated, and 20ft x 10ft pull out awning, 250lt water tank and 120lt fuel tank under the body. It's been a god dam mission, I just wish the fairies would get in there and finish it off.

Towing it thats the next problem, my hilux will only tow 2.25 and my work VW Transporter will tow 2.5. I'm guessing finished unlaidened it would be 1300kg, 2 adult and 3 kids quads 850kg gear and food what 150kg, fuel 100kg water half filled 100kg = 2500kg or I'll just have to sell the Hilux and buy an 2006-2007 100series cruser. One of my mates just picked one up for 26k 2006 V8 petrol I thought they were alot more.

John; I might have to wait untill i can aford a 100 series cruser before I make the 11plus hr trek to yours, but I will make it. Smile

you will chew the fuel with a V8 cruiser keep the hilux if it is a 3.0 td, the best i have hauled and i do this a fair bit is around 3 tonne with my trailer fully loaded and the ute loaded with a quad, it will do it as long as the trailer is loaded corretly and you have good brakes, don't know about insurence but i don't worry bout those things as if something happens there won't be 2.5 tonne of gear to gather up anyway.

if your looking for a cruise get the 6cyl TD you will pay a bit more but you will save that in fuel in the first 3 mths, plenty of guys around our way have curisers for the quad traliers and the worst i have heard is approx 40L per 100km with the V8.

Sorry; I've been in Emerald working.

about the cost I would have to say it would be about the same as the cost of your imports plus on top of that I've bought an A/C unit, awning and made large fuel and water tanks.

Re: the 100 series, I'll know next week as I'm driving one from Sydney to Sunnycoast (this is a stock V8 petrol) then 2 weeks latter I'm driving one from Sunnycoast to Gladstone and back to Sunny coast ( V8 petrol with pacemaker extractors, 3" exhaust and opened out Cataletic convertor). I will post the exact fuel usage.
