I recently bought a polaris phoenix for my wife and eldest son and iam pretty impressed. It might not have mind boggling performance but it is easy to ride and it is quite capable in all types of terain. The 2005 model had a few issues but most of them have been dealt with in the 2006. I reckon its a great entry level machine at an affordable price .What else can u get for under $6000. What do u guys think about the phoenix.Anyone got one? _________________ I am old and wise because i survived young and stupid |

what size engine / performance u looking for? if speed and performance not a big issue the AEON seems to be priced nicely and i think they are about a 350 cc 4 stroker ... for entry level i would steer clear of the 2 strokers and stick to a more reliable 4 stroke _________________ getting your quad around just got a whole lot easier www.ozcustomquadcarriers.com.au |

I must admit I seriosly looked at an aeon cobra but lack of aussie dealers made me think about parts availability. And believe it or not my pheonix has a made by aeon manufactoring company plate on the frame.Have a good look at an aeon cobra and you can see the resemblance to a polaris pheonix, the biggest difference would be chain vs shaft on the polaris. _________________ I am old and wise because i survived young and stupid |

Hey Buzzbro,
I bought my wife a Phoenix as well, and yes they are made by Aeon for Polaris industries, the 200cc engine is supplied by Fuji heavy industries (they also make subaru engines). Ours is a 2005 model, few teething problems being the 1st model, but still basically sound and very user friendly, unlike it's rider. Maybe we should get together for a ride, what R U riding ? _________________ The term "Foolproof" seriously underestimates the ingenuity of Fools.

Glad to see someone else saw the potential of the pheonix as the wifes quad.I ride a 2006 ltz400 a great entry level machine according to 'Quad'. And for the guys that reckon 2 strokes is all it takes well one day they will realise 4 strokes is twice as much fun. _________________ I am old and wise because i survived young and stupid |

i know you cant be serious about the 2 strokers i have 2 banshees sitting in my shed that never get used i prefer to take the raptor out every time the 2 strokers are noisy hard to start ( comparitivly) and gear selection is too vital there fore the quad is too much hard work to ride ... the raptor on the other hand i can go from dead stop to forwards in any gear its almost quiet and no premixing fuel.... go the 4 strokers _________________ getting your quad around just got a whole lot easier www.ozcustomquadcarriers.com.au |

hmmm well i know my banshee was quiet and so is wifes blaster compared to the 450 lol your raptor must have stock muffler still as put a decent after market one on they are not that quiet
think when i had the LTE muffler it was way over the noise limit with the 450
my wife started learning on a blaster and she still rides it now has lot more stuff on it though from when she got it hehe _________________ black covered in 5.7 powered oversize quad

I've had my time playing with bloody tempremental 2 strokes.I want something i can ride without having to rering and change fouled plugs after a cruisy trailride. At least with the pheonix it can put around all day without having to ring its neck to clean off the plug. _________________ I am old and wise because i survived young and stupid |

The best part about the banshee is that it feels like you are going fast because the quad steps out sideways when ever you poke the throttle. On the other hand you can make a 4 stroke go like crazy but you will still have considerable amount of control. 2 strokes are definately alot of fun to ride and slide and rev but 4 strokes are great for any kind of riding.

well if it was tuned good (i dont mean you didnt tune it properly) it wouldnt foul plugs my kx500 has still got the same plug as when i rebuilt it about a year ago and 500s are really fussy on plugs
cheers

Yeah your probably right about tuning properly,I get a bit slack when it comes to that sort of thing,i work on cars all day last thing i want to do is swing spanners on weekends.Anyways 4 strokes are much more forgiving about that. _________________ I am old and wise because i survived young and stupid |

I thought you were ment flog them all the time! I never had problems with plugs on my banshee. But it is really what you prefer. _________________ Glenn

| just for the record you can put my preference down as two stroke too. but i'll admit, different types of riding suit different bike set up. i'm too old for bumps and jumps so the banshee over flat ground and sideways is the go. |

kev i cant help it banshee =dinosaur,,as to kev = hmmm dont want to sound to mean HA HA HA HA i had abanshee and now a yfz 4 strokes are the way easy operation can still be a hand full to ride and with not much work can go pretty fast , and they beat the two strokes in every sort of racing.
if 2 strokes are so good why they going to stop making them |

Lots of the countries where quads are big signed some Protocol. So not having those countries in the market for 2 strokes means that they are not really viable. 2 Strokes are what started it all and soon they wont be making them. _________________ Mic

| yeah im sure that was the main reason but you know how it is you gotta poke fun when you can ,, and every one is right banshees are still a sick bike to get started on ,,cheap fast and if you can ridee a banshee good youll kill it on a four stroke |
