Looks like the new replacement track for Reedy is getting closer, just found the following in the latest MQ email.

Government Funding for Reedy Creek re-location

The Queensland Government’s Department of Communities (Sport and Recreation Services) has allocated a grant of $1 million to re-locate the Gold Coast Motocross Club from its current Reedy Creek track to a new site at Stapylton, near Yatala. The grant will enable a new track to be built once the Gold Coast City Council has finalized the town planning issues which will provide the land for the circuit.

The plan is for the Gold Coast City Council to provide the land, which was previously a quarry, and the state government to provide funding for the track, buildings and infrastructure. No date has been announced for completion, but Council officers are keen to get the project completed as quickly as possible.

hey,don't get me wrong.I wanna see this happen as much as anyone.But you forgot that the reality is we NEED ANOTHER new footy stadium at Carrara first.Whlie thats on the cards,we ,bikes,cars ,and quads are just dirt under the pollies feet.talk talk talk. Thats all they have ever done.We lost Surfers racetrack and speedway,did that get replaced,moved?Contact Bob(the comedine) Lacastra who is supposed to be in charge.
Ask for a deadline or timeframe in writing for "motorsport complex" in terms of years or months not decades.

i find it pretty hard to take old bobbie lacastra serious, when he couldnt even stand up to a puppet(agro). i do hope this does go ahead itll be great for everyone. question, did days park raceway ever open back up, they said it was relocated to yatala.

i reread my post and i did not want to appear to be having a go at anyone but the pollies, sorry MST.The GC gokart track were bought out by the guvment ,as the club owned the land ,to build a school and shopping center and told to move"elsewhere". They are cashed up(big time) and even they cannot find a place.However,this may haved changed recently. I also heard the other day that Black duck valley may be opening up later in the year.Well thats only 5 min from anywhere but it is something. Having Indy every year does not help us get a permant facility either.

There were 3 stories recently in local Gold Coast papers."New track at Burliegh Heads"Like it was EVER gonna happen.Just confirms what i said before,their lips were moving.There will be no track on the gold coast or anywhere close to it.We will just have to accept that and get used to driving couple for hours for a ride.We can get conditional rego(insurance) but have they(pollies) actually allocated areas where we can ride in the bush legally.I guess a road reg dirt bike and road licence u can ride state forest and elsewhere. Does not help quads though.

they should spend the money on a decent enduro track my kids can enjoy ...

cause my 3 year old just dont dig 250cc mxrs jumping over her head

me and quad boy realy liked seeing the cops show up on saturday
they didint hand out fines no.....

they handed out court apperances .....

sorry to hear about your day,Dazz.I had organised to have the plumber in Sat for bathroom reno,so could not make it.I have been riding dirt bikes since 1972 and it has not changed.You just ride somewhere you can untill that happens.The guys that race may have somewhere to ride but that looks like it temporary too.Several of the gold coast pollies have stated "we do not want any form of motorsport in the gold coast area".They must have really powerful friends.I have just about given up the idea of buying a 450 quad.Where will i ride it??At least i can ride a rego XR in state forests,right??maybe.The sad fact is you have to drive to Manar Park etc for the weekend.Thats it if you live SE qld.Once Reedy goes,then what for bikes, anything? It all seems too hard with all the red tape.In VIC the guvment have just said NO to quad rego,like they don't exist.Thats what we all are up against.We can get cond rego QLD,but where can we use it?state forest ,crown land?They can't tell me.
There must be a farmer in the area that would like a bit of cash income for his drought affected property. gazman.
