Need some help please.

The rear frame of my Raptor 700 has been pretty badly damaged, its broken on each side and has also been bent.

Due to the cost of a replacement here in Australia being AU$1200 I am trying to get it rewelded and hopefully straightened enough to be safe and useable.

Have hit a snag .... and what would really help is an image of a rear frame on the quad without the rear plastics.
This will help me work out what parts are supposed to be straight and where it flares out normally.

hoping to get it all fixed by the time my broken arm is good enough to ride again in a week or so.

This is an image of mine at the moment,

it has some abnormal bends and flares along it ... which I'd love to reduce to at least somewhat near normal.

If anyone can help and has a pic please post or email to stephen_carney@internode.on.net

Plan at moment is to simply press, with heat if needed, the two sides straight, at least so the tops are straight and level, then weld the breaks.
Dont give a damn what it looks like, just so long as I can get it backtogether and it does not fail on me when riding hard.

Cheers
MD

it is going to be very hard to bend it back into position without breaking it, you will definatly need heat and lots of it, same with welding, you are better off grinding a little away to form a sink like groove where the crack is to get the pest penetration in the metal.

are you getting it profesionally repaired or doing it yourself?

i will probably be able to get some pictures for you in the next coupe of weeks as i am putting new plastics all round on my bike....

You are better off just buying the new rear sub frame.. iv had to replace mine aswell but not for the same price you have been quoted.. mine was only $700.00 genuine. As for welding it, dont as it is cast alloy and it will only break worse next time you happen to crash or worse still land orchardly on a jump!! Its just not worth the risk.
