Can some one tell me what ratio of fuel to oil this motor should run on please?

Also how do I drain the oil from the reduction box?
I have removed all the bolts from the base of the case, but no oil is running out.

How much and what type of oil does it hold?

I had a couple of FL350's and Honda recommend 35:1 but 40~50:1 is great with a decent synthetic oil.

Any honda dealer will sell you the Honda engine oil but you can get all the info you need from www.minibuggy.net

I'm pretty sure Honda recommended 20:1 for all the 250 odysseys. But it really depends more on the oil than the engine.

IMHO you're better off to go with a good (modern) 2 stroke oil and go with the recommendations that come with the oil. If you're running hard or in sand use a bit more oil (go to the higher end of the recommendation that comes with the oil).

And remember to let the poor thing cool down here and there! Being air cooled they need to cool off now and then - friends riding somebody else's odyssey always seem to have trouble understanding this.

Another great source for 250 info is
http://www.p-o-ps.com/pops1/index.php
many of the guys there run 250s and are enthusiastic about them.

The recomendations from Honda as said above are 20:1.

I have found this forum much more helpful that the Pops website...

http://pilotodyssey.com/phpBB2/index.php

The forums are much more active on this one and generally all of the peoples questions are answered unlike the Pops website.

The difference is that you get good info from somebody that actually cares and knows what they are doing on the POPs site and if they don't know they don't answer (which I prefer - better than answering for the sake of it so it seems they know everything). You never know what sort of rubbish you'll get on Hoser's site - sometimes it's good advice other times it may cost you an engine.

Anyhow, you can decide for yourself which group you prefer. You can probably guess that my 12 years of experience and personal visits to many of the people involved has made my mind up.
