Bullet if the rules didn't change she could ride it because it was stock not modified. at 7 ... she doesn't race to win ...chicken monster rides to be with her dad and have fun.

Hi,
The apex 250f looks the goods.
Unfortunately as they start to appear on our race tracks in the 200-300 junior class riders skills will no longer be the determining factor in winning a race.
Horsepower now takes its place.
Currently the faster 200-300 quads are in the vacinity of the high 20's as far as power goes. With the occasional one just on 30hp.
Take a stock raptor[16 hp] add suspension, pipe ,rejet ,filter etc and you'll just make half the power of an apex 250 [37hp].
$11000 US is a good price for the apex plus GST,plus freight to get it here.
So there goes $13-14k just to be competitive .
As other brands come out [kfx250......... yet to be seen] the current crop of race bikes become obsolete.
UNLESS they can be made to go faster !!!!!!
The current rule changes allow this !!
LEAVE THE NEW RULES AS THEY ARE
Clarify some of the ambugurity in the terminology but leave 22.3.0.3 as it is with a line thru it.
The 90-125 class has enough scope to fit all models now with these changes.
The 200-300 class needs to be able to evolve to cater for the current model bikes [raptor250,blaster,trx300ex] Other wise it becomes another monopoly like the proshark sarga.
Spending $1500-2000 on upgrading a motor to get real performance is far better than selling a current bike for $5-6k then having to outlay another $7k to buy a competitve one.
A fair level playing field for all who chose to compete !!!!!
Just my two bobs worth.
thanks scotty. _________________ 06 700 raptor 50th anniversary |

A fair two bobs worth too Scotty.
Get your opinion in to MA for next years rules.
You might be on to something and the scene could change a lot during 2011, but there is still nothing different out on the track just yet.
The 450 downsizing rule was originally suggested to be allowed in early 2010 due to many member requests, but further consultation knocked it out of the recommendations with a majority members inputs from all states winning the against side of this point.
And then a strikethrough typo... the typo has been fixed, and 22.3.0.3 reinstated for 2011.

The SVIA Y-10+ rule.
From what I can see very few Quads are certified as approved by this standard, a lot are approved to the old Y- 12 + rule but very few, only found one so far, with the Y-10 + Rule.
The wording "or equivalent" which is in our current new rules would mean the Steward or Scruitineer would have to say which Quads are or are not equivalent. Bloody hard call and puts a lot of pressure as well as liability onto our volunteer officials to make this call.
The Americans have a list of approved machines that can be used in each class . I believe so do some solo's here.
If this rule is to stay I think the best way to handle this is to have all machines that comply or are determined as "equivalent" should be homologated by MA so we all know where we stand and which Quads can or can not be used. Thus stopping the liability and pressure on the officials of the day and making it clear to all which Quads can be used in which class.
As there is no clear defined definition of "equivalent" this could mean different interpretations by different officials/different states/different events, meaning who will know if your machine will or will not be allowed to run in that event.
A defined homologated list will inform competitors if their Quad is approved or not. Making it easier with less liability on officials. _________________ Rotax46

MA are working on a detailed list now.
Basically anything made by Arctic Cat, Honda, Polaris, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha, BRP Can-Am, Cannondale, Baja, KTM, L&R racing are all definitely made to do less than 48kmh in OEM specification (the speed limit of the SVIA rule is specifically selected).
Any junior quad model will only need to be honestly tested once to be added to the accepted list.

I've given up on Jnr racing.
There's been a group of us fighting NSW for 3 years, and not a glimmer of hope its going to get approved. so we have to drive 12 hours for my kids to race.
I was going to buy a raptor 125 this year, but the rules didnt allow it, now they do.... Too late bought another quad.
I wont be doing any interstate races this year, rather spend my weekends with my kids and i guess we will just go camping and trailriding. |

I have asked Boothy to find out where we were up to with Sport and Rec so far as juniors on ATV in NSW goes.
MA have asked the question so we are going to have another crack.
Todd if you have any info on past road blocks let me know and we will investigate as to why not. _________________ Cheers

Where are we going to get juniors from to race?
We couldn't fill a grid at Tamworth with seniors.
Next time you go camping Todd ring me.
We are looking at ride parks at the moment |

Hi,
We have a number of junior riders in SE Qld who would being willing to travel to NSW for any events that you can organise once you get thru all that red tape.
The weekend of 30/4 - 1/5 there is a sidecar event at Toowoomba with mens, womens and junior quads as support classes for the event.
Checkout the Qld section for details.
thanks scotty. _________________ 06 700 raptor 50th anniversary |
