Bit sad really i know i was late only nominated just now, come on people get on a nominate.

Also to all the sponsored "A grade" riders who have or are going to nominate in B grade intermediate class (you know who you are) grow some nuts and nominate in the right class for your skill level or ring and change your nomination (you know who you are).
There is nothing that ruins racing for spectators more than trophy hunters!!!
I have only been in quad racing for 6 months and riding a quad for only 9 months yet i am nominating in the B grade class because i feel i'm faster than C grade and the B grade class is for riders who are faster than C grade but are club level riders (99.9% of who are NOT sponsored)

So as i said to all you A grade trophy hunters nominating in B grade grow some nuts!!!

Neil

just cause your sponsored means you have to enter a grade.
But if last weekend shows anything the short motos in the qld titles could go anyway. By the way it is looking a and b will be combined anyway

I'm sorry you feel that way Roycroft! (yea generally speaking if someone sponsors you it means you've been winning hence the reason they want you to promote their product)

So if your an ex tittle holder and you feel you might not go so well on the day it's ok to enter into a slower class just so you can win is that what your saying?!

And if your generally really fast and a very competant rider (hence the sponsorship) but you feel you might not want to ride at your peek for the titles but want to gaurentee yourself a trophy it's ok to enter a slower class?!

And yea I hate trophy hunters cause it spoils racing and what it's all about, compitition and fun!!!

As i said earlier it takes BALLS to enter a class you know you will have to work hard to win but it's the best way to learn and get faster.

Just remember Second place is the first loser but if your an A grade rider and you get second or worse in a lower level class or get beaten by me who is only been in the sport for 9 months your gunna get laughed at!!!!

Roycroft is on the money here and you are broadcasting a bad generalisation that discourages sponsorship at lower levels.
Sponsorship has absolutely nothing to do with what class anyone should run!

My missus has had good sponsorship for years now, so are you saying she should enter Pro Class?
The X Team has a 90cc-110cc Junior Racer who is sponsored who probably wont be in Senior A grade either.
An 'Expert' rider and a few super experienced Vets.

I hate this attitude as much as the deliberate sandbaggers too...
But good on the riders who get sponsorship in the middle classes, impress their sponsors and progress through the various levels.
These riders should be congratulated for not only their efforts on the ground and for the value the represent to their sponsors, but also for the proffessionalism that they bring to our sport.
In an ideal world, it would be good to see a heap more lower grade rider sponsorships, and i hope these riders all progress through our sport as good role models, and earn a heap of recognition and trophies on the way through.

I think that if anyone appropriately starts a year in any class, trains hard, does well and creams everyone at their State Title that year...
Then thats a job well done (on all fronts).
Next year, they go up.

If you're a B or C grade rider out there, good luck getting some sponsorship.
There are plenty of people like Roycroft around that are always willing to have a chat and share good sponsorship advice.
Go for it Smile

What Neil is trying to say is there are a number of riders entered in B grade at the moment that are way faster than a B grader.

It makes it harder for the genuine B graders to have a crack at the win.

I would have considered myself a fair crack at the B grade title last year, but then a few riders entered this class that ended up beating the pro's in the State of Origin. Doesn't seem right really

Lets end the fighting now and hopefully those running the event will take a close look at this and do something about it to make it fair for all.

yes bullet i agree with you in regard to your comments adout sponsorship! my meaning in what i was saying has been misconstrued. i was trying to get my message across to those people it was intended for without naming names which i won't do cause it still gives those poeple a chance to change their noms without too many people knowing who they are.
But i'll ask this question should someone who held a national title last year be allowed to enter B grade class for the state titles? this is where the system falls apart.

I have to agree with Neil. Especially as a spectator's point, it makes a very boring race watching fast riders race against B grade riders... the fast riders are in front by a mile while the others are behind trying to keep up, what a boring race! you want a race that has all riders of similar competency who will wow the crowd with a close race.
Also I know of people who were approached by QQRA (who are not at all at A grade level) and were told that they were not allowed to enter into B grade that they are at A Grade level.. so where is QQRA now, why are they not putting a stop to this madness.
If they are going to allow A grade riders race in B grade, well why stop there why not let them take over C grade as well!!!!

Nar, fair point Neil, and i was hoping there was only a few people causing the problem you can see.
I just jumped in so that everyone else in the class (and their sponsors) did not get the wrong idea.
It's hard if the few names aren't named, but the all the rest shouldn't feel uncomfortable because 'they' might be scratching their heads thinking... is "they know who they are me?".
And then naming names on a public forum is never very constructive either, so you gotta respect that too.

Hopefully the guys you are talking about get the point...
And hopefully all the other appropriate entrants that hope to win this class feel more comfortable too.
And i should but out now because i don't know all the QLDers that well anyway.

Good luck with the event, and lets hope we see a few new interesting riders steel a few class podiums Smile

The "heat" system worked a treat at Caboolture the other day... I will be talking with our committee to work on a new system.. Easily divided the racers and produced close racing all day..

And Neil your right on the money .....

Bullet your not really in touch are ya? Trophy hunters and Sponsorship .... lol

It's just an unfortunate part of racing I raced Clubmen last year at the Nats and the top 3 guys were just 16 fresh out of blaster class and therefore allowed to enter the Clubman class yet their lap times put them top 10 in Expert. I didnt care cos i didnt need the trophy but i had a great time, after half a season in clubbies this season I entered expert to race faster riders to get better quicker it worked great till I crashed at Finke and lost 3 months with injury. But through some luck and building good relations with suppliers i picked up some sponsorship nothing major just $$ savings on parts, tyres, lights. Its not a factory ride but it helps save me some cash and makes my racing affordable and in return I spread the word about my experiences with the products/distributors I use.
Anyone prepared to make the effort can get sponsorship and to bag people who have it is not fair. take Bullets advise and contact people like Roycroft, Beechy and other sponsored riders ask them how they get it they will be happy to share the info I'm sure.

Im unsure who these people are but this opens up a whole can of worms in relation to grading. This is something that does need to be addressed but is hard to get up and going. i dont agree with other riders trying to influence or decide which grades people should race in especially in public forums. This should be raised with the organisers. Spot on bullet just cause your sponsored doesnt mean your the best rider it means that you the best at selling yourself

Yer ,when I read this I fit this stereotype , every year I get older and the intermediate competion gets younger ,(as it must) , so to me Intermediates is the Vets waiting room .

it's a recurring problem but its getting to close to the weekend to worry about , its time I started to get my ol heartrate amped up, this helps,,
