or make it so a 2 quad team has to stop dismount fuel up the second bike and then they can continue.
there is ways around it, maybe time penilties if u have 2 bikes etc.
6 minutes over the course of the full race, is a massive amount of time to catch up. |

Don't have one for it. There wasn't one in it when I bought it. I'll have to do something though. Maybe hit up mum and dad for a new quiet slip on for it. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

are you saying that no one would enter the teams on just one bike?
because we did and i will be again this year on my own bike with a mate of mine.
seeing as prize money is involved, shouldnt the playing field be fair. |
you ungrateful sod, well I never, but seeing how you are still going team up with me again (your mate) I'll let it slide.

Does this mean your quad is all OK now?
Also, I'll check my shed later and see if I have the restrictor from my old YFZ450. If not I'm sure someone has one they can give you. Most get thrown away. _________________ Don't close your eyes during the crash, you'll miss the best part |

Why dont you have two bikes for your team? Teams shouldnt be penalised for wanting to ride their own bikes. I say keep it the same. Froggy |

noise testing is not done by the promoter/organiser. It is done by MA and can be done at any MA sanctioned event. They are starting to get strict about it so i would check GCR. 12.10 and make sure your quad complys with it. |
Thanks noodles..can anyone post a link to the GCR's or post this particular
one. _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |

Don' let that stop ya Yoges.
Get the big girl down to 94.
You will need to for any oter MA event too.
Be it a race or ride day etc.
And even if you ride on private land outside of MA events,
The general public that hear you go by will label quads 'noise machines' etc.
the 94dB is for the good of our sport in Australia.
It's pretty much a modern world standard too, so there is no fighting it.
Just the result of 'banning quads' if we can't get it right.
There are a lot of people fighting the behind the scenes 'big fight' of Rec Rego for quads too.
Anyone who exceeds 94dB in public ear-shot is not helping the cause.
How many other GCR's are we allowd to ignor? _________________ Can-Am X Team

I hear ya Bullet, I took it to get tested, we did 8 times (once we got it right ) I got 96.5 four times, 97.5 three times, and the final time it was 99, so thats the figure I stuck with. Mind you these pipes have never been played with, still have the spark aresters in them.
Off track for a second...
Now to what I honestly believe in... out in the bush I would rather hear a bike comming, wether walking or riding, and that way I know its comming, I still think 94 is a good happy medium for all users, but why do they make pipes so loud, not dropping names here but a cetain fossil sounds like a jumbo jet, and it sounds grouse... On another forum, I know a bloke a two wheeler and we meet up on the track a few times, and he's of the same thought, so where's there two of us there must be more, but at the end of the day I'll agree gladly with 94 or 96.5 what ever comes first. _________________ 2005 KFX700

Noise is a side affect of performance, although it doesn't have to be. LeoVince make beautiful pipes that deliver awesome performance without excessive noise. Their XC pipes are all under the dB limit, and their MX pipes come with inserts to convert them under the limit.
Back to the topic though... i am hoping to race this year if i can find a quad to ride _________________ (PeteW's missus)

You mean my bike of course... We have bought quiet cores for the monsters and for the HMF on the wife's Outlaw and will have them into the local exhaust guys next week for noise testing. Depending on the outcome we may still be a goer for the Pump. If I remember correctly Yogie the noise coming out of the Yoshis on your big girl was something akin to the batmobile bursting forth from the batcave. I'm sure the wife wouldn't mind lending you Raptor Junior if you are looking for a bike for the event. Don't know how we would go about ensuring your bum cheeks didn't get caught up in the chain though. _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |
