i personally would never by a single cylnder 4 stroke. 450 / 525 or whatever.
they are gutless compared to todays technology levels,

(Bike only)
my yfz10r has to push 1.3 kg's per hp
my 421 raptor has to push 1.8 kg's per hp

a single 4 stroke is pushing over 3 kg per hp

Love your work DM, but these light weight juniors are pulling some mean lap times in the 300 class with maybe 10 less hp because they, and their bikes are lighter.
It looks like every kg might be more iportant than any hp (for MX anyway)
To the contrary... a stock 70hp 279kg Renegade can do ok on a MX track too eek

When are you going to get off your but and build a 2 cyl 730cc 4 stroke anyway Smile

it was never designed for jumping and you are a goose for saying something so obvious.

put the yfz10r on a speedway - flat track - enduro - finke - safari etc course and power to weight will rule supreme.

look who won safari this year.. what was he riding? a hybrid.
the motor he chose only has around the 80 hp mark yet at the end of the day he was the clear winner.
as far as reliability and fuel consumption goes it will ride hard all day long and for years, without a rebuild, as road bike engines are designed to live for tens of thousands of kays not just a couple of race meets.

and bullet the 130 hp MA approved quad is on its way.

Woah guys i just asked a question about why i dont see banshee's racing.

Not to Start a War of 2-strokes vs 4 strokes.

I own a 4 stroke and i think i would love a 2 stroke more even though i have never ridden one i like the power!!

keep the 660 buddy nothing wrong with them , the dude ho owned my bike sold his banshee, and his yfz 450 to build a flat track racer 660, doing his homework he found he could get more power out the 660 than the 450 and the banshee, hence he was never beaten again.

has the thread starter mentioned any where in this thread about motor x?

i agree with him totally.
