My requirements:

CVT
4x4
some racking or ability for some racking
IRS - prefereably
500CC+
As new condition
Comfy ride?? Plush even??

free ( a requirement i realise I will have to drop at some stage) Razz Razz

Want to trail ride and do some sneaking about hunting style so no sports pipes but I assume any standard pipe would be quiet enough and nice bolt on for trailing would be the go.

Most of my requirement are built around the fact I have a muscle.nerve syndrome and I cant be getting off lugging a quad out of trouble, quad got to be good enough to do that on its own and take me with it.

So dont just suggest one gimme a list of all possibilities.

With great AUD/US exchange atm you could buy a $10kUSD Razr for $11 and have it here for less than$11.5 instead of $17!

Just wondering, how it would be possible to buy the machine (RAZR) for AUD $11k and have it here for less than AUD $11.5k ?

I'm not meaning to have a go at you or anything, just if you can get a machine that size here to australia for $.5k ($500)... can you pm me the details of your shipping company?

or am I doing the math wrong (purchase price of machine AUD $11k PLUS the $.5k you also mentioned = total $11.5k)

Sorry if i deviated the intended direction of your topic

I amrked a guys post who imports to AUS, I'll have to find it, but it was unbelieveably cheap. Maybe too unbeleivably to be $500 but let me get the real post so we dont depend on my addled brain.

Thought I'd marked it but wasnt there, was sure of some details as it talked about getting it to cali depot, having it cleaned and approved for import, so Im certain there was an importer!! Hrm

Try my best guys but it def was a Chinese funky bike label on Ebay not one of the heavy weights though and might even have been a buggy importer. But now we are in the land of misty memory....

Im a great guy for you blokes I found it in an expired item I bid on

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330248259906&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=014

OK so its not $500 its $1200 + GST, spank me!!

But its a damn side better than $6-7k mark up in Australia, so check you USD prices.

Have also asked him to post any relevant info on OZATV.

Yogie

I was hoping the Razr would be nimble enough, I havent tried any serious 4wding yet since diagnosis so yeah dont know how it would hold up.

The power steering sounds like a good upgrade but is it an upgrade I'll get on another quad next year.

I'd like to say Im buying now but until I sort out insurance wrangle (worst case I believe is end of year for hearing at this time) may be more players.

Yeah Ive ridden many farm quads and got the crapper knocked out of me when they werent power steering so is Grizz's model power steering? I think it is? May have to hit him up for lil jaunt if he's amenable.

Seen another KFX700 from QLD $7k, but Id say a better unit by ad, less than 20 hrs riding! Thats on e-bay.

Gotta admit a really big soft sport for the renegade coz it just looks the shizzle. Oh and Visco lok is THE best 4wd system going around bar none.

And even though I know ou ca outower yourself I would go the 800 over the 500 for minimal weight change. But its a bit more in coin by a little bit.

Maybe the "White" Import would fix that problem. (white being an australian supported model vs grey import being a non-standard model to australia)

Gotta admit that was an advertising opinion only Surprised Surprised

Would be interested to see. But you have your power steering on that Grizz dont ya? How much of a role is that playing in a full diff lock situation?

Be intereting to see a head to head of both with pwr steer.

Always controversial Grizz!! laughing laughing

Thanks for the heads up, I think mine might be pulled half outs where the sun dont shine!! Evil or Very Mad

Why wont Yammy just import and build on the wolverine range? Coz we dont have trail riding is the answer i guess.

Somebodies trying to talk me into a very nicely priced DS650. which of course breaks all my std's but is just one of those things we'd each maybe like to say we have owned at one stage in our lives.

Keep em coming mate you'll turn me to the grizz yet, but most of all if you find me a free one!! lol Razz Razz

Hmm, it would seem as though I did not make the intention of my previous post clear. I was just trying to establish wheather myself (as a layperson) was just blissfully unaware of cheap freight from the US or not.

However, I seem to interpret your reply as that of a defensive style. Sorry, if my tone was incorrect but I was simply being constructive and objective (toward the freight issue). Thanks again for the reply, I wish you well in your future 4x4 atv endeavors. Cheers Smile

I think that all the advice in the world from different owner s can sometimes lead to a very biased view , as i think we all like our own machines for our own reason and purpose.

Geeman i think the best way you can find a machine that suits you is to write a list of requirments that you need , and then do your research with all available brands , and then purchase to suit your purpose or riding style .

I am not < i repeat not having a go at you but , you are at one minute asking for all opinions for 4x4 quads ,and then you head off on a tangent with the baja 650 , , which is a very different machine.

Specifacations for all machines are available on the net through there web site , have a look and go from there.

Have seen and admired the scrambler for some time as the only sports 4wd, but not anymore. But with solid rear I was giving preference to the sportsman. But neither are for sale anywhere!

And given say some feedback lke Grizz I have to open my eyes a bit. Im the kind of guy who although I like to think Im not gulible, believes someone implicitly until they actually lie to me, unless I have a preformed opinion based on experience myself.

So really I'd need to ride a fair few of these quads to find the one that fit.

How many people have had the opportunity to do that?? Rolling Eyes

At any rate it seems i am being offered a Baja at a price almost to good to be true. Almost because he had it on for much more before getting to this price, so Im hoping its all its cracked up to be. And if it is its just a deal I dont think I'll be able to walk away from. Even though it breaks all my requirements or most, it is a fairly comfortable ride Im told.

Its just one of the those icon bikes that you'd like to say I either owned or rode or raced, so even if its not a long term purchase I see it as a good deal.

It will also give me a lil experience in accessorising as its a bit of a blank canvass atm. Also gimme a lil chance to express myself individually in fabricating/designing a few mods.

And in the end its the best value for money I can afford on the market at this time I can find. But we'll see it on Sunday.

Grizz completely true in every respect mate.

The specs are there but I did want to see what more was out there because Ive come across two bikes second hand that I cany even get info on from off the net at this stage, so I was willing to ask anyone and everyone for a view/list.

My requirements as such have not changed and the Baja as I pointed out in my post to Angel is well outside them.

I pointed out some of my reasons there but my other reasons are I have waited 2 years to financially get involved and two months of searching have shown me mothing I could put a dollar one for various reasons.

Then along comes an icon bike at a bargain price. Does its positives outweigh the negatives of waiting and picking up the best bargain I have seen. I have a look at that Black grizz I sent you and say take off the bar work and make it an option change the front plastics to more like the Raptor/Baja, give it a wee diet and your looking at a bike that may be just as competitive as a renegade and look quite the shizzle as well. But where will I see one for no use at $6K??

Will buying a bike outside my stated requirements bite me right on the behind? Maybe!

But I feel if its so I can get out of this bike at a zero dollar loss, Ive tried something, proved my specs and ticked off the llist of one of those things I'd like to try before I die per the the general topics thread.

The 4x4 list is still very important to me because I feel I'll use that list as soon as the moment becomes practical..

So yeah Im contradicting myself big time, but I hope you can forgive my reasons and still welcome any discussion. I realise you're not having a go but its true that it seems to make no sense at all.

Well I hope Ive explained my rationale or lack of it a bit more!! Laughing Laughing

Come first hard days riding on this thing (I havent bought it, YET) I will be first kicking my arse through my teeth believe me.

But everyone else just wants me to buy a bike and ride!! Very Happy

I'll still discuss whats the best 4x4, they have always been my biggest interest, I believe the most interesting technology and the best all rounder for me.

Perhaps Im just cracking under the preassure?? Razz Razz

Wink Wink

Hate to dissapoint ya Geeman , but pretty much impossible to import razr ex the usa for $11.5k.

Counting freight , insurance, gst , duties, and forwarders and customs fees. Best you could land one here cleared would be $13800 -$14400.

And that would be relying on the US /AU dollar being at $.96 or better .

I looked into it myself ( was going to bring in a whole container load).
Some items not worth it

However , if you want a new wakeboard ski boat , I can get you one brand new for $80k , in comparison there is an identical 07 second hand model in sydney currently for sale for $105k. Bargains to be had if you know where to look....

Bummer hey Pro, but I guess it does give you some idea of the leverage you can be putting on your dealer for a US bike new on the floor, about 20% worth.

Ta mate.

I have just realised after re-reading this reply may have looked like I was placing doubt on Angels statement.

Nothing could be further from the truth, damn e-mail. That and the fact I usually type as Im thinking and can only type at about a 1/4 the speed I think so leave out huge chunks of precursors to statements.

So if anyone thinks I was saying that I doubt Angel girls word or that I think anyone is a liar please be assured that isnt the case at all and she has my most humble apologies if she had thought that and was in any way offended.

Nobody actually complained to me to prompt this post I just read it and realised how it could be misunderstood.

My apologies to her again and everyone in general who may have been offended by that.

Sincerely

Gavin

You're right doorslammer, it doesnt, and I should consider my own list of requirements a lot more seriously.

It is hard to be patient though and then to see such a rippin bike at giveaway price, I was way overexcited, I just wanted to go go go.

So yeah its good heads-up to have someone remind me, this is what you NEED to have for this to be a good eperience for you.

So the financial controller was right in one way so I should be thankful for that.

Thanks for the input, KEEP reminding me every time I post Im gunna buy something that isnt on the list.
