Hi

Im looking at doing a few mods to my Chinese quad. Just wanting to know if any one else has bothered with modding these el cheapo machines.

I got 2 of ebay and both were rusty as. So i am just de-rusting them at the moment.
After that i am looking to fit spot lights running of a neg switch and neg relay.
Also wanting to fit a yamaha rear shock and a few other things.

I payed $300 bucks for them. One wasnt going (needed piston and ring) Other ran but has a crack in the case.
One is a 110c with 3 forward and reverse - Other is a 125c with a four speed box no reverse.

Besides removing a tonne of rust, I did my first mod. Just smashed a little bottle of nail polish so i could use its arse end for my new glass level on the hand break.

Having fun with the "Other" 125cc quad. Bogged up the crack in crankcase with apoxy puddy, De-rusted it - painted and stuck some honda postie stuff on it.

For my 2nd mod = I used a old cordless drill case for a battery case. Works like a charm and is solid+Flexible.
Also sorry for all the pictures, Kinda forgot this forum is full of Chinese quad haters.

As above I wouldn't have touched the first picture with a 10 foot barge pole. What do you plan to do for the plastics? Was surprised to see that the steering shaft has no rake Does that effect the control at all compared to other quads?

You want to get rid of that Postie tank or the quad will stop and go by itself every 50' or so.

It had a bolt to govern the steering but it broke off. So i will either drill and retap or use a damping methord (shock damper) so i can keep the awsum steering (Not as limited as stock). As for the plastics I am going to cut up the girlfriends washing basket and weld together some school chairs. But deff not going to put plastic all over it.

Na its staying as i kinda like the look of it - Call it the circumciser so the only thing to stop and go would be....... eek

Well, I had a trike with a Postie motor and when I'd ride it down the footpath the damn thing would stop at every letter box.

With all the rain we have had in sydney Ive slacked off, But did put together the front mounts and bar - So i can attach a front rack. Cost so far on the TipRat scrap build has set me back $30 bucks - Liquid poxy + Kill rust paint/some weld sticks and cutting disk. Might cut up my old stock Trumpie S/Triple exhaust and fit it for something to do.
