| I have put it to the Hervey Bay Committee. Good central location to the CQ and Southern QLD people. Good track that gets challenging as it gets rough. And I already have people that have said they would volunteer for the weekend. |

| Where ever it is, there needs to be guaranteed support from locals and those willing to help out. So we can start to grow the sport in QLD. There are plenty of people enthusiastic about the sport here, and we should all work together. |

pretty sure they can't do Warwick as the track is not MQ affiliated.
And like Dickie said where ever the titles are held there will need to be local people willing to put there hand up to do a fair bit to help pull it off. QQRA can do only so much when it is outside the Brisbane or Toowoomba areas as this is where the committee resides.
And I expect to hear NO whining about this as everyone had plenty of opportunity to have their say or join the committee before the AGM last weekend. _________________ The main thing is to have fun I just think second place is no fun

I am pretty sure MQ hired the track off Warwick in the last year or so to run a round of the Sunny States or similar...so i think it would be possible _________________ Team Ironpot 701 Just Doin It

Yea but at what cost??? we have been told the round of the sunny state's lost money because of the additional costs. If a two wheeler event lost money then a quad event would definitely lose money.
Maybe I shouldn't have said can't and said wouldn't. _________________ The main thing is to have fun I just think second place is no fun

It is currently open to any club to host it as nobody has/is putting their hand up but the QQRA. We have just discussed and started to organise it as we just wanted to ensure it would happen.
If there is a club out there that wants to do it get in contact with Scotty or Dave as i'm pretty sure the QQRA would be willing to assist a club in getting the event off the ground. _________________ The main thing is to have fun I just think second place is no fun

Hey guys. Last year Warwick became affiliated for a year (yes a whole year) only because of the sunshine state round that was held there. Warwick was approached by mq. Before taking any ideas on Warwick being a possible location it would be wise to speak with them to see whether they are still affiliated.
Another aspect to look at is track hire cost. QQRA guys and some others know of the fun we've had with Coolum in the past.
On speaking to the committee members i know of at Echo Valley their cost was low and they were interested in helping us if we helped them. eg they'd flag for our event if we returned the favour.
As Dickie said there are plenty of people wanting to do something and get the ball rolling so its time for a collective group to get together and everyone can focus on getting the one event rolling. Again as Dickie mentioned have a look at the volunteer base any particular track that is being considered.
Shutey I'd love to have a strap round Mundubberra but would you have enough support volunteer wise. Just asking cause I know the club has been quiet over the last couple of years???
I don't know bout everyone else but a change of track that the titles have not been to would be good especially if a given club is more than happy to support it

madman if mundubbera club can get the track ready and cater for about 140 bikes (Thunder x whitch is a qld championship). i dont think would should come into the question, ask any of the quads that attend this series, i just think you need some where different to look at as brissy way hasnt worked in the past, but that is just my thought. _________________ Team Ironpot 701 just doin it

Hey Shutey if you guys are wanting to host the states by all means put your hand up and give Dave or Scotty a call and let them know.
These guys have plenty of other things to worry about club event wise and they are still getting over the Nationals from last year so I'm sure they would be willing to let Mundubbera club take it on.
I'm pretty sure you can rule out Warwick from the mix due to the points Madman pointed out and also due to the fact we have been told the sunny states lost money at that round.
Echo valley or Conondale were only being thrown around due to the close proximity to QQRA committee members (and we all don't want to do coolum again) but if another club wants to take it on LET THE QQRA KNOW YOUR INTENTIONS!!!!! BUT MAKE IT QUICK!!!! as the QQRA wants to ensure the states are held this year and the club needs time to get things organised!!! _________________ The main thing is to have fun I just think second place is no fun

I am still waiting to hear back from Hervey bay, as they were taking it to their committee.
But firstly, has a weekend been set aside for this event? As that is the first and foremost issue for any club, if they are available to hold the event.
Then, a club who is willing needs to put their hands up.
And finally, then we all need to help out in our own little way. |

Track License fees are not usually a huge factor, and seeing as you will likely be prepping any track for a State Title event, it makes sense to get a new track on the list and up to spec.
Basically you should end up with an improved track that you can use for any other MQ event for the whole year after.
An MQ affiliated club must do the application for these rates:
Inspection fee $200, and License fees are $200 per annum.
So the first year will cost $400 total.
If you get 100 riders it only adds $4 to everyones entry...
And that is assuming you want to pay for the whole year in one single event.
I'd pay an extra $4 to race any new track _________________ Can-Am X Team

Just putting it out there so please don't flame me. But what about the new Wyralong track? The advantage is that it allows the Quad racing sector to race at a venue that is receiving much hype at the moment, has a pretty good track and provides camping facilities if required.
I am looking to get into this sport, having raced mx (many, many moons ago) and pwc's more recently. I will happily provide safe storage at the Nth end of the Gold Coast (protected by two dogs and six foot fence), have a fully equipped garage with air tools etc for any competitors from elsewhere in Qld who are having their quads shipped down.
Just a thought!! |

Shutey, not to sure if you were getting all defensive or not so its taken some thought to a reply. My question to you was in fact asked because of statements you personally have told me about there not being many people at your club and hence Munduberra went dormant for a little while. Is this correct.
You stated that the club managed to run the thunder x quite successfully and thats great. Was that last year??? If you guys go for the titles I'm sure it'll be great too.
However to say that having the qld titles down brissy way in the past has not worked is a little unfair. 2005 stanmore was great, 2006 Reedy ck was successful,2007 Roma was great, 2008 Clermont was also great, 2009 back at roma, 2010 at Coolum was successful and 2011 at Moranbah had the least number of bikes nominated which was unfortunate but they did what they could. In the past of any titles that I've been involved in the planning of, interstate travellers complain at anything out of SEQ, and apparentley the extra travel perceived by those people becomes a turn off until one explains to them that depending on where they are from, they would travel not much further if any further at all.
I'm not shooting you downat all, I was only asking questions of your club based on information i knew of based on what you had previously relayed to me.
Dickie, it would be fair to say that there is no date set and being a quad title it does allow some room to move as it does not affect any two wheeler events and if a club want to put a submission in to MQ, they would only have to pick a date which doesnt conflict with the likes of club days or series rounds that may apply to their track. It would also be beneficial to check what other quad events are happening interstate to promote the chance of a few interstate riders.
