I'm looking at getting another bike and there is a Kawasaki I'm pretty sure its a 220 or 300 going cheap around here. I'll only be using it for spotlighting and camping that sort of thing. Anyone had any experience with these. Alright or stay well away from them?
Thanks

have had 2 of the 300`s excellent bike, easy to steer with the rear diff and never any problems, have a handy detachable headlight on a lead.

Well went and had a look tonight and its a 300. It might need new starter motor brushes and one back guard has broken off the mount but he only wants $800 for it. Sound alright?

Went and got it going tonight with the guy because it has been sitting for over 6 months and we got it going after putting a bit of fuel in the cylinder and then pull starting it, after it got going the first time though the electric was fine. Rode around a bit and it changed gears nice and didn't blow smoke. Only blew a bit when it was in neutral and I revved the absolute sh1t out of it.
He is going to fix the guards too and clean the carby so I'd say I'll get it.
And don't worry Hustler it will only be for hunting and camping, the 450 will be for trying to exit the atmosphere.

they are good bikes. only dramas with them are they can have problems with the CDI's and Pick ups. Nothing to worry about thow ya just replace the parts when it happens and away ya go again.

Got it last night but it is flooding really bad and easily when I am trying to start it in the mornings when it is cold and then I had to tow start it with the 450. Laughing Anyone know how to fix that?
Other than that though it is a nice comfy ride but I swear sometimes I could jump off and run faster. It's also pretty funny riding with the diff unlocked when you go around a corner, lift a wheel and spin the sh1t out of it. Laughing

Clean the tank pick up screen and give the carbie a quick clean out before you go much further. They have a habit of blocking jets. The CDI is the biggest pain. Keep the battery charged and don't ride it with a dead battery to prolong it's life.

Parts are rather expensive, nah bloody expensive, I thing the CDI is about $500ish from memory. $1000 for a cylinder.

Think I might have got somewhere today. Took it to a mate who is a mechanic and he diagnosed straight away as soon as he pulled it over that it had a tight intake valve. Still running rough but he thinks that a new spark plug will fix that though. That has made mum a bit happier with it so she isn't pushing for me to get her money back now so it is off the market again for a while now. Hopefully i can get it going.
Thanks guys.

There is a KLF forum floating around the net somewhere that had every answer to every problem those little bastard bikes have ever had.

I just can't find it again Sad

Maybe the kawie forum may have some tips

Ended up sorting out what it was anyway. After we fixed the valve it was still spluttering and it ended up being the crap battery which wasn't charging when riding so that was making the CDI stuff up. All it needed was a better battery that charges and it stops it. Its going really well now.
