I cant speak for all of them... but the Finke dvd I have is absolute crap, I think Mr Kittle has shares in the production company... (very buggie orientated)
But if you watch the extra bits there is about a couple of hours of race footage even ...if alot of it is the same footage shown over and over again.. Lets hope they get it together soon on the coverage.
But will this bring the FUN POLICE with it ???? _________________ Consistency..... The last refuge for the unimagenative. |

this footage is based on the australian offroad series and nothing else, the production rights are for the buggies, it happend to be that also bikes raced at this event, this is why there was a little on the bikes.
when we one day get our own series it would be great to have this type of coverage. the finke DVD is all we get and yes its crap footage of ATV riders.
i don't think one Quad guy had an interview this year the race????
lets get 200+ quads next year and our own class at the race not included with the bikes.
. quad Class 1 open ATV
. Quad Class 2 Vets 35+
.Quad Class 3 UTV open????
only then will quads get the recognition it deserves _________________ 2012 sponsors, Working on it. |

watched it....was good....thought it was a good insight to those who want to have ago next year....
Cheapest way to do it would be good...what dose it cost for the avrage...""profanity removed" ill have ago" then yar might get those numbers,
Corresct me if im wrong but not much change out of 10k to get there and enter on a quad ... it is just a dream for me .....
Buggies and there teams pay big money I have a friend whom I have for ages tried to convince him to come to quads instead if buggies ..cheaper right... he know has the "second child" he know is into model power boat racing " dont luagh cause it s cheaper whright" but gueas what it still is dearer than quads go figuer
Those buggies rock though .... UTV might be the way .... those of us who enjoy it at leats can carry a six pack for the wait after a breakdown or an off .
Teams event would be the go to make it afordable.... _________________ 04 Polaris Predator 500 with mods

I want to have a crack next year but i think its a bit to $$$$$$$ for my budget and have to get up there. Maybe the year after when I have a ute. Or is anyone looking for a pit bitch for next year, I'll put my name down now just to get a look at the race.
On the footage though some of those buggies are wicked, 6L V8 and that crazy suspension. Would have been nice to have seen some quads though. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

I can ride it lol just can't afford the entries and the old YFZ isn't quick enough. Anyone wanna give me a ride. Looks like i've already got a pit crew, or just a pit man. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

I drove up stayed in a nice hotel entered the race and drove back inclusive of food, drink and fuel cost me around $2200 I rode a stock bike and it was more than fast enough unfortunately I finished up in an ambulance but that was free.
Yes it s expensive compared to a club round but its worth every penny. cost would be similar on a 2 wheeler but i reckon it would get real expensive real quick if you wanted to run a buggy |

Sh1t $2200, thats probly over half my bike. I could crash at my cousins though who lives in Alice and that would save costs a bit . My YFZ as it is only pulls about 130km/h at the max. Need a bit more poke than that. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

| you might do 130 for about 30km out of 240km you need to be able to hang on through 210km of whoops to even get to the fast sections so start saving for the trail ride of your life. if you can crash at your cousins that'll save you about 400 and if you dont hit the pubs and eat out that'll save you another 400+ |

Are I see the problem with our team already. last time I saw a YFZ do 130 was on the back of my trailer heading to Frogmore down the freeway.....
Pubs and eating out yes need to budget for that need to enjoy the trip and the suroundings...and local fourwner.
Staying at cousins aunts sister place cool but miss alot of the camping and camp fire bullshit that is mandatoy on such a trip....
all who have done this whats ths cheapest way...
$ 1000.00 there
$ 1000.00 back
$ 1000.00 for the week there
$ 3000.00 Shocks
$ 1000.00 Long range tank and extra bits
$ 1000.00 Fuel stops and support vihicle
$ entry Fees ??
any help with this ???? if we have 5 people $ 2000.00 each could it work ??? _________________ 04 Polaris Predator 500 with mods

only you know how much fuel you'll burn there and back
party money is as much or as little as you want
stock shocks will get you there and back so not a necessity but if your in the top 10% go for it
Long range tank isnt necessary as club fuel stops are easily within reach of the standard tank
Club fuel was $180 there and back and you can get your swag and stuff to finke for 30 on club transport
it cost me 770 to enter with club fuel, transport, and dinner at finke the rest of my cost was there and home and hotel etc. |

Don't worry about top speed, my IRS was lucky to reach 125km/hr. It's about suspension/ bike reliability and the rider. You make the most time over the whoops and the square edge stuff. Colin Lawson was 6th overall last year on a stock ds 450, not even a dampner or pipe. Now he knows how to ride. _________________ 2012 sponsors, Working on it. |

let me add my bit, we travel 2700 k over and back, go down to finke a couple of times , out in the desert having practice a few times, all up travel was 7400k. spent almost exactley $2000 on fuel, $730 noms and club fuel, $390 for caravan park [$30/day powered site x 13 days]
social activities $$$ , who cares ,that`s part of the fun ,it is a great event, anyone can do it , it`s just the pace you want to do it at can hurt.
we have been in 08, 09, 010, and booked our sites for 011 hoping to see the beecheys, roycrofts, smithy and the rest of the 70 odd or more do battle not only to win but to finish and get themselves a spike and have fun, that is what it is all about.
to all those thinking about it, you really should "just-do-it" _________________ JUST DOIN IT |

Guys, can somebody give me an idea of the track conditions. Not in race terminology or something you would write up for a mag, how rough in reality is it. Is it really 210 klms of rear end bouncing whoops and ruts? _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |
