Is there people with SxS's going to Finke or would consider going?
What we want is more racing yes?
Well we arent going to get categories sitting on our blurts, what we have to do is put the sport/ the SxS brand if you will, out there and get in peoples faces about it.
That is CAMS in this instance.
Id like to set-up a whole bunch of user owned SxS's in a row in the display section with a big freakin banner that says, "Want to RACE one of these?" or "Why cant we race these?".
I want genuinely commited responses, Finke is a big and prestigous event and we want to do this A1+ if we are going to do this at all.
So if we can get some commitment over the next week we should know how good a showing we can put in.
People should encourage everyone they know with a SxS to attend this event with their machine and put it on the display as if we put as many cars there as to fill a class/category then CAMS should be encouraged to sit down with us and make some discussion on how we can make a Category.
Cheers all

I believe theres been a couple Roy, but the amendments to the std RZR are such that you may as well start with just a CAMS approved buggy that try to make a RZR comply with CURRENT classes.
We will I think need a new class to have any chance of getting into CAMS. IMHO.
The two cars I have been told of who have competed have spent $40k and $40k+ to comply with the current classes and then they didnt have 4wd and such changes at to make the vehicle no longer a RZR but in purchase name only.
So yeah its been done. We want to race them production and modified. Then we can have race teams compete at purchase price (currently $18,500 in Perth with a trailer for the S) plus parts so say that again and getting there and you have a race team for $45k for a pretty luxurious team. Or do it on a budget take a spare set or wheels and tyres and beg anything you brake and race for $25K
$25K and you've done Finke! Who wouldnt love to do that? Lots of very happy people getting out of their test drives at the CCDA event at Bulla.
Lot of older bodies looking to "sit down" while they race!!
PS: Got one to put on the line-up Roy?? _________________ www.asho.com.au for your shooting and outdoor needs

Hey Harb
Is that a commitment to say yes you will be bringing a SXS to finke?
I'll be a definate for Tooborac being in the backyard again.
The reason they were willing to throw it on again down here in such a hurry was the great support they received in the way of entries for event 1 and this one Polaris is sponsoring.
I enourage anyone to make the drive because it is a fun event as very few occasions were winches required for the SxS Machines! Just drove straight through!
So you are a +1 Harb? Let me know the full details via PM if you would.

Hi there
I built the RZR that entered Finke twice
It wont be there this year so I hope somebody else picks up that gig
We spent alot of time with CAMS to get it right
The new S model would be a cheaper option to start with
Look out for next years Thumbpump race could have SxS class _________________ Thanks to

Hiya Scoot, if we manage to get an Australian user group formation meeting going, I'd really like to have you come along, (and maybe Mick @ 47 as well as a potential race organiser) to give some feedback on what it took to be done before?, what the general attitude was of CAMS like whether they were not being flexible in approach or whether they just wanted more entries in order to start and create a class with minor mods? And when we see what comes out within the year how close it goes to making it in the big bad world.
CCDA have some great events but Im not even sure of our long term status there as we are something of a trial class. But we definately want choices of eventing to be known. Getting CAMS would be great because that way a lot more event organisers have the option of just saying, "OK I want to run the SXS production class of quads at this stadium event for display", or 47 may want to run an event at something like the TORQ club track at Kyneton or a class at Thumbpump. Something akin to the Tri-state series might pop up?
Theres certainly many arguements for and against going around and all voices are to be heard, so the formation of an Australian user group is pivotal at putting together a united front to any particular event organiser or racing organisation. So I hope you'll lend yourself to pushing the formation of the Australian SXS association forward and give us the benefit of your experience.
Actually it looks like I have a seat available as my Navi for the Tooborac event coming up as listed in the posts above. If you'd like to come over and have a run in a CCDA style event and shoot the breeze about the way things went down for getting the RZR to CAMS standard and whether they had said anything about whether they would rather just create a class for them may be a good opportunity to say directly so to the honcho's of SXS and Polaris as they are there.
Cheers
