hi every1
long story short i am lookin for a quad but havent had anything to do with dirt bikes in 10 years so i am way outta the loop. i need some advice on what to get and would love to look at/test a few different ones to see what i like....especially a banshee and a YFZ450 (i always rode 2 strokes but think maybe a banshee wont be comfortable hauling my 100kg's around behind my son at 10kph)
i will be doin some trail riding, some fast dirt stuff and i want it to climb well(i do alot of hill climbs in my 4x4) but also i wouldnt mind gettin into some mx in the future.....
i'm very keen on a banshee but thinking a 4 stroke mite go better up steep climbs/rough trails, also, are they easier to pop mono's with bc of the low end torque?
i really sound like a kid hey..... cheers for any advice

Mitch, hey man...
My way of looking at the quads is this..
banshee's are great for the fast stuff but not real good for putting around on, they need the speed for the power...
the big 4 strokes can handle anything... 400-450's are like race bikes, tough suspension, go like the power off p!@#$.. great for tracks and great for jumping... much lighter bikes than the big bore bikes..
for more of a cruiser with plenty of power are the 660-700's... standard a 450 will blow a 660 or 700 to peices in speed...
best thing is to have a good look for sale here...ebay or baikesales.com.au or tradingpost.com.au. don't ever buy sight unseen (of course)
There are tonnes of bikes so don't rush into it...
the price varies heaps so the more mods the dearer, but can also be a sign of a bike that has been flogged hard.
just check the colour of the oil, suspension, how it sounds and see what needs to be replaced... parts are not cheap..
Only advice but enough to start you off bro... cheers |
