hi i just discoved the national rail trail program and have sent them a letter first check out what they got...
http://www.railtrails.org.au/trails/
here is what i wrote to them and its prtoberbly in our best intersts to contact your local council / gov rep to and ask the big question wheres our chunk for our sport ...
Hi i was wondering why some of these trails haven’t been allocated for use for family Quad bike trail riding ?
With the local councils and governments being squeezed by the motorsport industry for places to ride why haven’t some of the unused rail trails been allocated to the sport ?
I will also be forwarding my concern to the mayor of the gold coast, motorcycling Queensland and the Australian quad riders association...
This seems to be very unfair infract it is a form of discrimination as family’s pay quite large tax’s to persue our sport yet you allow horses. mountain bikes and even cars on some parts of the national rail trails
So why can’t we have a chunk of the pie please!
here is there contact details

Just recived my first reply from them
Hi Dazz,
Thanks for your feedback.
Railtrails Australia does not directly control the use of any given railtrail. This is the responsibility of the trail management body, usually the local municipality, however, in general motor vehicles (except emergency and management vehicles) are not permitted.
Railtrails Australia encourages trail management committee's to develop trails for the purpose of walking, cycling and horse riding (where appropriate) to provide a safe off-road environment away from motorised vehicles for the greater proportion of the community. For this reason we do not encourage the use of motorised vehicles of any kind (except emergency and management vehicles).

Thanks Rick for your time to reply
I’m sure the trail management body could find 20km-40km of dirt trail between country towns dotted around the country to allocate to motor sports and thus keeping them out of heritage areas and at the same time it will promote the growth of rural business thanks “ATV sports orientated family’s” i know we are not the majority but we all pay tax too and are looking for some where to go enjoy our sport too I’m sure a small portion per state won’t hurt anyone, i would appreciate if you would take the time to voice our concern to any one that you think might be able to help us achieve Ride trails for our sport like other country’s enjoy
Again thanks for taking the time to reply
now to kick that ball a bit harder.... |
