Most oil pumps have a gauze filter on the pick up or intake side. Wet-sumped machines normally have a oil filter with a by-pass for when the filter flow is restricted due to blockages or thick/cold oil.
Dry-sumped machines vary in the execution of the lubrication process.
Your engine or workshop manual is probably a good place to start.
It'll give you a few pointers relevant to your machine....... _________________ Remember. We elect politicians, but we have to deal with bureaucracy.

check out www.rivaracing.com and go to the parts area and check out the drawings for the 660 as i think there is a gauze type filter in line somewhere from the header tank or mounted in the base of the oil head tank.
hope this helps. |
