I placed an order for a new 2010 ktm 505sx last week after the dealer told me that he could get me one within a week. But now apparently they havent been "officially realeased" yet and he doesnt know how long I'll have to wait.

They tell me the bikes are sitting in a warehouse all ready to rock and roll but cant be shipped untill someone gives the nod.

Does anyone know whats goin on? Is there a release date?

I'm sorry that read badly ... I would be surprised if they are genuine as last year KTM announced that they have ceased production of quads and 14 models of Bikes. Until currents stock ran out . The Factory press said they might make them in 2011 .. I will do a search and see ... Just look into it your probably getting a 09. hope somebody has a 2010 and I am wrong .. Sorry.

I have talked to a number of local dealers about KTM not making a 2010 KTM ATV and the future of the KTM ATV. None think there done building ATV's. One thought they would come out with a mid year 2010 model which is the same as the 2009 once the 2009 and 2008 quads inventory are used up.

bike companies will still make 2010 models just rebadge with no changes

a way of getting publicity of a new model by just changing a sticker.

i have heard that they are a bit different, revalved shocks, no head lights, couple of wiring harness changes etc...

who cares anyway, banshees havent changed since '87 but people still buy 2010 models!

Here you go man -

Probably the most noticeable difference on the 2010 models is the nerf bars. They are BIG as you can see in the pics and have a built in heel guard. Also the headlight and tail light are now gone and therefore there are no switches up on the handle bars. The ignition key and plastic panel is also gone replaced with a small bar pad on the stock bars. (No the flexx bars aren't stock) A few other differences that I've noticed is the small theaded fitting in the exhaust is gone as is the radiator reservior bottle. A 15 tooth front sprocket is now stock up from 14 I believe. They tell me that the shocks have been revalved but its pretty hard to tell for sure. The only noticeable thing on the shocks that I can see is the WP logo is different... I have all the details on the shocks in the manual if anyone is interested enough to find out if there are any differences from the 09.

KTM have really stripped down the bike from the 09 to make it even more race ready.

That is an awesome machine...

But for the love of god, I pray that someone slaps the next quad designer that designs front plastic like that. It looks like its broken from the gaping holes left from where the guards were.

Quad design has taken sooooo long to get to this point hasn't it. I'm so glad that some companies have finally got the message. This thing for all intensive purposes is race ready! And it only took the ATV industry about 20 years to get there....

Except for the the front plastics of course. looks disjointed because the fender has been removed! It aint a hard thing to do, design a front nose cone that looks good with or without front guards. Seriously Confused

But at the end of the day those KTMs rock! If I still raced that's what I'd be on for sure. My rock stock YFZ Fourfiddy probably cost as much as that thing way back in 2003. Then I had to go and spend a motsa just to wheel it onto a racetrack. Me likes!

Another post from the US KTM quad site about the 2010 model.

So I got the 2010 for an amazing price- and very happy I paid the extra bucks for it!

The dealer told me some of the updated things on the 2010 machine:
- All the shocks have been softend up a bit
- Upper a-arms have been moved back, a bit.
- No spark arrestor/ quit core.
- Huge nerfs, with great pegs!
- No front or rear light.
- No key, just press the button and it starts!
Probably a few more updates, that I have forgot..
