those ones there look like a gimmick to me...
go over to bansheehq and look for a thread on how to port your own reed cages, and add carbon tech reeds. some guys over there have done alot of testing and found this to be a good setup.
me personally, i went from stockers (not ported) with carbon tech reeds, to v force 3s and bigger carbs (pwk33s) and picked up 5 hp... but im sure it was more to do with the larger carbs and the deletion of the airbox rather than just the reeds... _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

You've got exactly the right attitude. And you'll find you learn heaps doing things on a budget so when you can afford better stuff you'll know what you're doing. I haven't played with Banshees but in my opinion that's exactly what you're probably best off with because plenty of people have done a lot of experimenting and if you follow 4strokers advice you will get the benefit from other peoples' experiments (learn from other peoples' mistakes and research - its much cheaper!!!) There's nothing quite like buying a (cheapo) die grinder and flowing your own engine parts and beating somebody that spends a fortune on stuff they don't understand. And, the biggest plus is, you learn exactly what is making the extra (usable) power. But a big part of this is listening to somebody who has done the work themselves and has acheived results (results meaning a nice machine to ride or good lap times - not necessarily dyno numbers). I have also found it is preferable to listen to one or two like minded people - mixing theories doesn't normally work.
Gat onto bansheehq, buy a die grinder and go and make some inexpensive power!! |

cheers 4 all the help im deffinatly keen on doin my own work to my banshee seein im a diesel mechanic so im pritti mechanical minded but seeing this is my 1st two stroke and its my pride and joy so i dnt want to do anything until i ask everyone on here what to do so i dont damage anything or make it lose power instead of gaining power. i already got a die grinder in me toolbox at work so mite bring it home and try do some of my own work once i suss out bansheehq, greenhuman said he will do it for me for free if i just post them to him. i have a mate that works in a machine shop that would more then likely do a far better job with a mill then me with my die grinder
im not sure what reeds i have cause they are carbon fibre and couldnt see any brand names on em wen i last pulled my carbies off to do my boots. if anyone on this forum has pics that they could put up of what theyve done with their reed cages it would be a great help 2 me
Cheers nick |
