i have a guy that is buying one of my bikes, he says he is from malaysia and wants to use pay pal for method of payment

does anyone have expierence with pay pal?

he wants to use this due to safe and security, i have no problem on my end as i know i am not ripping him off, but what about me is this a safe/fail safe way of getting my money?

he says he will have an agent come and pick the bike up from me once payment is made via paypal.

just sounds suss thats all, considering someone from overseas would buy a bike from me in Austrlalia ,what do you think?

People can pay thru Paypal using stolen credit cards as an instant payment. I get "will you send to Malaysia" etc "I can pay with this and that" all the time but this is a way stolen cards get used.
I would be very wary. Direct deposit would be the best way IMO.

totaly safe for you and its the best way to do it

you get the money first nothing leaves your hands till the money is in your bank ... and its 100% backed by pay pal ... if there problem and he has stolen credit cards or what ever its not your problem and they wont be asking you for any refunds

when he pays pay pal they credit his account so its there problem if they accept a stolen credit card from him like i said nothing leaves your door until you are PAID IN FULL ....

you need to open yourself a account so pa pal can transfer money to your pay pal account from his pay pal account and then you transfer from your pay pal to your bank account

pay pal will notify you the second they have moved the money ( takes about 1 min )

it does take a few days for the money to move from pay pal to your personal bank account thats a normal thing..

Ohyer .... the are Surcharges on pay pal when you sell its not allot couple of % but be sure to add it to the price ......

johnsonsmith31@live.com

is that his email, as we got basically the same email on the sale of a bike.

Advised by others about credit card fraud as per what Greenhuman said, he also said no delivery as it would be collected. so we advised cash on pickup was fine, call for more information, never heard back from them.

sounds really dodgy don't you think?

Check with paypal but I think for new customers you can only transfere 400 in one month to a nominated savings account witch dose need to be connected and varified to you pay pal account you will also have to supply a credit card account to open a new account.

I have been selling heaps of house furniture as it dosnt suit the new place (according to the missis) but I always transfere the money out off paypal before I let them pick up..

Have a look at recent comments re pay pal on buyers and sellers feedback.... CASH or DD is the only real way.
I got stuffed around with Pay Pal on a OS order but the Aussie order was OK
And one of the emails I got from "A Pay Pal" was a request for account numbers and passwords for verification.....
Please yourself, but that didn't seem too "Safe and Secure" to me

Have heard the story of a bikebeing paid for through Paypal and the money being received by the supplier then the bike being shipped. from that point the buyer goings through the"Goods not received" claim and somehow this comes back to bite the seller. Havent had that happen to me although was discussed on another forum.

yeah my housemate sold his boat, he had cash in the bank then the buyer put in a claim saying it wasn't wat was advertised blah blah then paypal removed money out of my housemates account without athourity. and the guy still has his boat.

paypal is only good for 100 odd dolar purchases as when it goes wrong they make it hard to contact or even speak to them. housemate sent 10 emails just tryin to prove who he was and then they keep adding more info to it or "loosing paper work"

cash on pickup or money into your account ROYCROFT!!!!!!

he had the money in his account via paypal, the fella THEN picked up the boat, then 5days later put in a dispute and now housemate has no money or boat. process is still underway

dont use paypall for big sales or purchases. the reason why it takes 3 days to transfer the money from account to account is that they make interest on YOUR money while its gettin transferred. So paypal has had my housemates money for a month now, figure the interest on that, and now add it up if they make 2 bucks interest on every sale that goes on thru ebay.

Is this a ebay thing ? if so i have this happen to me maybe 10 times if it is ebay go to live help and talk to the security guys and get them to check it out, they will check the sale out and tell you with in 5 mins if its bogus as they ring the genuine owner of the acc they will all so credit you any fees you have incured with the sale

what happens is they hack ppls acc and pay with some 1 elses pay pale you get payed i suppose but the genuine acc owners are out of pocket and the bogus person walks off with the item

if its not ebay get it checked out with pay pale either way excepting a bogus sale would be dishonest when you all ready have reservation about the sale and give dicks a reason to keep doing it sound doggy to me

was just on fullnoise and read the following, the first part is what I got....
i'm guessing they must scan all the for sale sites everywhere, as we advertised through the quokka, not ebay, not fullnoise.

have a read

These are some scams you my see through the Fullnoise Classifieds email function. If you have an ad on this or any site really then you may encounter this type of scammer. This type of scam is not confined to Fullnoise, they will try any place you have an ad.

SCAM 1:

SCAMMER STARTS:
Just viewed your listing and will like to purchase it. I am willing to offer you $7,300 for it,pls let me know if you accept my offer, payment will be through paypal and the pick up will be arranged.

This will come through the email function on the website, at this stage they do not have your email address.

If you say you are interested they will then send this

SCAMMER:
Thanks for the response,i am more than happy to see you write back...I am at the sea at the moment,i am a sailor and i really want to make this purchase.I insisted on PayPal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i dont have internet banking, but i can pay from my PayPal account as i have my bank a/c attached to it.I will need you to give me your PayPal email address so i can make the payments asap...pls if you dont have PayPal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.paypal.com and get it set up...after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with PayPal so as to put the money through.

As for the pick up,my pick up agent will be accessing that and they will also be coming for the pick up immediately the payments have been made to you..Please send me your address so that my pick up agent can figure it out and come for the pick up and other necessary things after the payments have been made, they will also be coming with all the information needed,my details and transferring the name of ownership to me will be done by the pick up agent so you don't have to worry about that.Send me your registered email address with PayPal so i can pay in Thanks for been nice and considerate.

AT THIS POINT FORGET IT:

IF YOU CONTINUE THEN THE SCAMMER WILL SEND THIS:

I was just about to make the payment when i had this little problem with the picking up,I got an email from my agent...He said he won't come and pick up the item unless i pay him the agent commission fee first in order to be able to schedule a pick up time ,and my pick up agent head quarters is in the United Kingdom and all commission payments made for pick up, from anywhere in the world is sent to their head quarters in the Uk and the only form of payments they accept is western union money transfer and i tried to pay online but i will need a credit card which i didn't bring aboard the ship, and there is no post office(there is usually a western union section in most post offices) or any western union agent on sea! so i have to ask you to help me with the pick up fees, i will include the $750 they charged to pick it up and take it my home(1st class treatment), to the payments i will send through paypal, after i have made the payments, i will need you to help me send the $750 to my pick up agent through western union money transfer, the western union money transfer can be made at a post office near to you, there is always a western union agent in most post offices or online at www.westernunion.com .I will be making the payments shortly and will email you as soon as it has been done.

Do not give them any details and simply break off communication:
Do not send any money to anyone EVER

western union is the most unsafe way to do it. you can get scammed thru pay pal if your not carful. i got one saying the payment has been made BUT its in there banks hands and will be deposited into my account after i have sent the item and sent them the tracking number!! naturally, i rang pay pal and asked them about it and they said its a scam, so, NATURALLY i went off at them, they never wrote back Rolls eyes so be carful. easiest way is to make sure you have the money in your hands before you send it.
