Well last weekend was my 1st time @ Fossils Block & id have 2 say he is the host of hosts !!!!. I took 3 other mates who r in2 the 4x4 scene so i was the only quad/bike there. The block was great, a range of different riding/driving conditions. in the future & a few smart cookies brain storming could get a really good circuit track going on. with the block diverse terrain a number of different skill level track could b made (just my 2 cents worth). Fossil has quite the setup (i wouldnt call it "roughing it") & made us all feel welcome. Given a bit of rain the block greened up nicely & putting your feet up & sucking in the serenity was not hard. Down the rd 4 a few kms provided additional bush tracks which started out fast/flat & free flowing soon lead 2 a number of slippery fun hill climbs. all the tracks were drenched & keeping the quad straight was a fun challenge. In between periods of rain & light showers we pulled out the rifles & targets 4 a spot of shooting & a short walk had us going after wabbits but after previous baiting the numbers were low so Foss a note 2 self, no more baiting, just let us come up & pop them off 4 u But in all seriousness thank you so much 4 allowing us 2 come up & enjoy your gem of a plot of dirt & look 4ward 2 venturing there again in the future....cheers JB
Oh & yogie u would b aware that there r 2 few old mining holes around the block, turns out that after the rain many of them filled up with water & i was fortunate 2 find 1 in the shape of a love heart which has now been dubbed the "Love tub"

Loks like a fun weekend all the way around. Hopefully we can all get together there next time the fossil comes over. Did you get the water tank in ? _________________ The term "Foolproof" seriously underestimates the ingenuity of Fools.

Thanks for the write up JB, glad you guys enjoyed yourselves. Things got pretty wet on Sunday after you left and just didn't let up. I got bugger all else done other than finishing off the fireplace. The new water tank was almost full by the time I headed out on Wednesday.
These fellas didn't mind the wet too much
Enough water fell to get even the old girl flowing

She was cold and wet but it was good to see water flowing finally. Hopefully the rain has washed a few nuggets down from the mountains with it too to help pay for the new generator some rotten mongrel pinched while I was away. Our next project will be to put some bridges in so we can cross the creek at different points to open up the riding area. We will be down again after chrissy at this stage. It would be good to catch up with you guys for a sherbet or two. _________________ I'm not suffering from insanity, I'm enjoying it!!! |

Hi Fossil, gee the place looks good mate. The shed's a ripper and I see the roo's are still hangin'.Amazing what a little rain will do to brighten up the place.Bloody bad news about the genset.I know how you feel,we have lost two lots of gear from our place up on the Liverpool Plains. There are assholes about no matter where you are unfortunately.Only good bit is watching them shiver in their boots when you finally catch them up.Poo Poo pants all round!!Funny like blazes.
Good to see some pics.
Cheers for now,Fox'n _________________ OUTDOORS....THE PLACE TO BE,WHATEVER THE WEATHER. |
