Can anyone tell me if I need to register my quad for use in QLD. Mainly I am looking to ride on beaches (and a 500m section of road to get there.....). Coming from rural WA previously, the local copper there told me I didn't need to bother. As long as I wasn't stuck full of beer, I would have no problems with him.
Cheers

Yes, you do. If you want to ride in areas allowed like state forests, national parks and some beaches, or even to cross a road from one area to another. The number plate means you get left alone by "people".
The machine has to have lights, blinkers, mirrors, etc like a trail bike. It's a class 19 for CPT and the rego is limited access. Needed a GPS to negoiate the beaurocrasy.
Limited access means your not allowed to nip down the street to get milk and bread.
All up it was about $250 for 12 months.
Entirely up to you BUT If you get caught it's driving unregistered and un-insured. The other side is if "somebody" makes an issue about insurance and liability, the gates get locked and more people in less areas means more gates get locked. Been their done that no good.
Maybe worthwhile checking to see who is responible for that beach.
Good Luck |
