Hey all,

just got my new YFZ450R conditionally reg'd today. Prior to today I heard from people if you get pulled up by the parks ranger and u dont have rego u get done for no rego, insurence and no license (this guy was on a two wheeler). Which means goin to court and getting your car license suspended.

Because I got conditional rego now if the ranger pulled me up i wouldnt get fined for being in a national park, is this the correct understanding?? As there is no license catorgory for an ATV.

Thanks for the help on this subject guys.

i have been wondering if this is possible. i used to get a permit when i went 4wding in state forests etc. it was free. i think you need to ring Qld parks and wildlife and i think it was called a (permit to traverse) or something like that. i think mine had 4 seperate boxes for different locations/forests so i ticked them all. you need to renew it when your rego is due. how did you go about getting your rec rego? what are the fees/conditions and what can we do with it? eg, if the cops see us crossing the road from forest to another, can the book us? providing they can catch us that is.

this is an area that we need facts in black and white to determine where and when we can ride if rego'ed. beaches, state forests, across roads, beside roads, private property???Conditional rego is third party insurance only, correct??And is only for vehicles that have no adr plate, such as Quads and MX bikes??correct?

um it cost me 250 for a new yfz450r for one yr rego. most in stamps. renewal is bout 140 i think i had it on my 04 yfz. the cond rego u get for quads is for crossing sealed roads from what i could understand. i'll have to get onto qld parks and wildlife to enquire.

i didn't think it would be that dear, even though it is cheaper than the fines a spose. i have mates that own v8 cars on club rego and i don't think there is rego is much different to what you are paying and they get to drive on the road. for that much i would like to take the banshee to the shops for bread and milk atleast. the rec rego would have come in handy for me today though. went to load the banshee on the trailer after a quick ride and saw there were 2 cops and a cop car besides my car. of coarse i turned around and headed bush again.

cond rego is all about insurance, not exactly about registration. have a look at your car rego papers to see the breakdown of costs.last time i asked local DOT,6 months ago, cost was about $110 for 12 months cond rego.maybe they realised how many quads etc there actually are and have decided to cash in.typical guvment.

it is stated by nparks it is not in there policy to allow quads in parks how ever if you do some googlinging you can read these policies,if ride slowly and for educational purposes blah blah they may give you a permit.
