Just bought my first banshee.
It is all stock and wanted to do some mods.
I was going to do the exhaust and was also thinking of some better carbs but with so many size available wante to know what was best suited and should I get some good reeds.
I wanted to also get a cool head but was wondering which was the pick out of the two and one piece and how you know what cc domes will suit your application and do I need to know my bore size?

good quality filter setup and pipes first mods to do, then upgrade clutch. Dont worry about carbs for now, you need so serious mods to justify carbs. As for a cool head, i have run the noss head, interchangeable domes good quality

yep noss head 19cc domes, fine if you run bp98 fuel.

the combustion chamber design on the noss is much better than the pro design. if you ran 19cc pro design domes it would detonate on pump fuel.

pipes, filter, timing plate and jets and your good to go!

v force reeds should be on the bottom of your list, after pipes, filter, head, timing plates and jets

Ok.
I was already thinking about reeds.
I have heard of people die grinding the holes out on their standard timing plate, is this recomended.
Also do the size of my bores affect what domes I need

yes, but if you are using stock yamaha cylinders you just need to get small bore domes.

you can also elengate the timming plate holes to make it adjustable. I think its ruffly every 1mm = 1 degree.

If you can get some V force reeds cheep I would get them.

- first mod that should be done when you get a banshee is up the limit on the credit card
- second (first if the credit car is held by the missus or is already maxed out) mod everyone should do to their banshee is get a clamp on air filter, K&N or foam, just get rid of the standard set-up
- pipes, dmc aliens or 916's for top end or pro circuits for more bottom/mid range
- timing, bump it up 4 degrees with a timing plate (cheap) but you can grind it out if you feel confident enough
- mill you standard head about 25-30 thou which any machine shop can do for less then a carton of piss or if you need more cooling get a noss or pro design head
- +2+1 a-arms for the front, nice set of shockies
- re-valve the rear and get a wider axle
- reeds, vforce 3's seem to be the way to go
- porting for the type of riding you do
- carbies
