Attention Can-Am Renegade/Outlander owners. I have just had a Renegade to Staintune Racing to get some pipes built, I put one on today and it realy woke the big girl up. So if your after a pipe for your Renegade/Outlander hit Staintune up they are Australias leading aftermarket exhaust builder for dirt bikes.

don't forget to mention there Smitty that the Staintune pipes don't need to be re-packed either..... just for anyone who has never heard of them Staintune are based in Sydney and all their pipes are made of stainless steel.

I know your sick of me but I have been making stainless pipes for Can am and other quads for some time . Have you a pic of it off the quad . In the early days we had trouble will the gades . glad to hear you have dropped the ali ones . Anything Ali will blow the rivits . As your already aware your machine runs real hot in that area .

I just deleated two paragraphs of problems and Fixes because you would know them already. And I don't want to be negitive do I.

The Stainless ones are a good thing.

I was unaware that you made them too Husky. They are a good thing for this kind of quad as they should be unbreakable. I will post some pics when i get to it

Where do I start . I bought my first staintune in Brisbane at little shop at Nundah for my brand new xr250 in about 1988. A bloke who worked there took me under his wing at the time and taugh me do's and don'ts of pipe building. I did my time at eagle farm just down the road. This bloke could wheelie a Fire blade like the entire Mt Cotton track. Anyway the problems we had was heat. We used 125mm pipe . which is the same as oem but for some reason the 125 would melt everything including fuel tanks. how does your quad run on hot fuel? whats the out side diameter of the pipe? was the fitment real nice. Don't beleive the repacking crap just watch the colour of the pipe. Was it heavy? can you see all the way through like on your 450 machines? How big are the little holes on the perforated sheet tube? . can you see mesh though the holes? really sounds like a v8 now. Deeper note than ali

They are a good thing and of course you need to check it everyday.

Those HMF on gades are crap but seems pretty good on my 525

my experience with stainless steel exhaust systems has impressed me.

about 3 years ago, peskygoat made a stainless steel exhaust for his outlaw 500 which was a huge improvement.

Then he made a stainless exhaust for his scrambler... Next we drag raced my standard scrambler against his scrambler with the ss exhaust and swaped bikes to ensure it was not just the rider... then we had different friends drag and swap bikes - the ss exhaust made a noticable difference in the quad proformance regardless of the riders.

At this time, Waldo had just won kamfari on the canam for the first time. Previously he had been winning Kamfari on brute forces... The increase in canam sales from that month on was huge!

Many of our friends had changed from brutes to canam and they were so impressed by pesky's ss exhaust lead over my standard - Dean (the bravest) brought his can am in. I had never before really looked at canams so when it arrived at the shop I took it for a test ride... it poped wheelies in first gear which was impressive cause i wasn't even trying... Pesky made a stainless steel exhaust complete with a "Smokin' Exhaust" label - fitted it then tested it. Then i tested it and without trying that quad did wheelies everywhere eek eek eek eek eek eek

Dean was stoked! Smile

He took his quad out the next weekend and flogged his mates on their standard canams. So pesky suddenly had all his mates coming in for stainless steel exhausts.

It was a real shame when in a pony express endro (the next race!), Dean clipped a tree with the front wheel coming out of a creek crossing and smashed his throttle thumb real bad! Next we discovered the problem of so much power without a reinforced frame because the can am frame bent like a banana. So Pesky invented his steel bench for canam straightening and strengthening. This bench has been used a lot due to the sheer cost of a new frame - which is not strong enough to hold onto the bikes awesome power.

Not sure exactly how they go about it but i'm lead to believe it has steel baffles in it like the stocky but just more free flowing. Nothing wrong with the ones i was running before but just didn't want to be repacking at Safari just one less job for Petey to do.
As for performance it has about the same bottom end as using a HMF but it has more top end for sure, it pushes right through to the rev limiter which on my modded Rene is just on 140km/h. But the HMF I was using was something like a super swamper it was a bottom end pipe.
The other cool thing is that they are 94db and still have that cool V-Twin note

Non packable don't use much packing. and a lot of the time they are double skinned (heavy) Most of these use 3 chambers and smaller 25 mm pipe to move air from each chamber . thats why they are so heavy and turn in to rust buckets very quickly. some have small hole to let moisture out but clog up very quick. Stainless will also rust where the burn stain is.

But you said earlier that stainless was good.

never seen a staintune that was heavier than a stocker, also never seen one rust out over any amount of time (down here any way)

why do you think that mechanically baffled pipes are no good for quads, as in what specific reasons?
