tough question to answer when you know the guy asking runs around at 220kmh
Most stock pads are pretty good to your discs.
For MXers fast wear is usually a mud related thing.
For you though... maybe you should look at more high tech anti fade stuff.
If you find them they'll be dear and like anything,
Usually if you gain it at one end you loose it at the other.
ie. you might have to put up with less bite at slower speed general riding because they will be out of their optimum temperature range. _________________ Can-Am X Team

Thanks Bullet
im leaning towards a good set of sintered bronze pads.
hopefully they should do the job well.
my next project should have a engine in it by tonight. |

you could add an extra caliper to each front wheel for extra stopping power, i saw some pics of 250r's back in the day with that mod for flat track/tt/motard.
of course it would require some custom bracketry, fancy brake line plumbing and a bigger master cylinder, but hey if you can shoe horn a zx10 into a 450 it should be a walk in the park! _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

I've got a set of willwood calipers set up for YFZ450 spindles and custom billet hubs with a larger brembo master cylinder sitting in the shed if you want it. Got it made for when we were doing alot of super moto stuff. Still fits 10 inch wheels and stops fantastic everytime with no fade. Runs larger front rotors also. Let me know if you want it it's just sitting there _________________ You Can Fix Alot Of Things In This World But...

I'd go with Hudsons suggestion because mabey more calipers would only get you a bit more before overheating the disc becomes a problem.
The std disc vs caliper sizing would be designed fairly proportionally.
Where are you riding this thing.
I would think Motard might be the only place you would really 'need' bigger brakes.
You probably won't get the traction on the ground to pull up hard in most other frms of dirt surface racing.
(Assuming that you migth be thinking speedway... you wont use the brakes that much at all)
If you really need to pull up to a stop from 200...
you could always push your feet on the front wheels for that little extra stopping power.
Sintered bronze dunlop volleys would be the best _________________ Can-Am X Team

Bullet hints at the key in regards to stopping (instead of brakes). Stopping power is not limited by how good your brakes are; tyres are the key.
Grip not braking power is what you need to think about. If you can already lock-up your front brakes then you are already overpowering your tyres. You then need to think about consistancy and longevity.
