I have a 1992 Suzuki LT250R Quadracer that has a pair of orings cut into the top of the barrel instead of a head gasket. Has anyone heard of this modification? Does anyone who may have done this mod in Australia? I have read a little on this mod on the www.quadracerhq.com forum, but would like any info that anyone has.

it was a common mod for 2 strokes before the various cool heads become commercially available.

it was more than likely done to alter the squish clearance (close it up).

when you assemble the engine, put some new o-rings in and check the squish (gap between piston and squish band at TDC) with a piece of solder. you want around 40-50thou on a 250.

ps any machine shop can do that mod. when you go to replace the orings i think you will want special high temp ones. measure it up and do some research, you might be lucky and find that they are the same size as the pro design o-rings meant for a quad racer, then you can just buy em straight from pro design.

mark.
