Did everyone see "getaway" last night? they did an awesome story on the finke desert race... did you see the riders hands that they interviewed? they were shagged!
A few years ago there was an article in ADB magazine on how to tape your hands before you put your gloves on.
does anyone have this magazine and can scan the article?
or maybe you know of another article/document/website showing how to do it?
thanks, mark _________________ 2002 SE Banshee |

I was having a lot of trouble with blisters and have started taping my hands before racing with good success. I'm using the widest tape I can find with good stick and a bit of stretch. I was shown to go around your hand once first across calasses and base of fingers. I then snip in between the fingers. Next cut 3 narrow strips (about 1cm) to go between your fingers from the edge of tape on your palm to the back of your hand. Lastly I go around once or twice more on top of the first tape to keep it all together. It can still bunch up slightly towards the end of the day but it mostly stays in place. The tape you use makes a big difference, I'm still to settle on the best brand. _________________ Proud Member of QuadridersSA

I use cycling(fingerless) gloves under my regular gloves and this has worked extremely well. It takes a bit of getting used too but once you are used to them, you dont even notice you have them on.
I have used one set of cycling gloves for over two years and have also found that my regular gloves seem to last longer. _________________ Its not if you win or lose but how you enjoyed the ride! |

Used underwears from ballards last year at TP300 but I've got long fingers for my hand size. I found that the XL gloves were to big around my palm but I needed the length in the fingers. Needless to say the extra material in the palm created blisters. Maybe better than no underwears but still enough for my girly hands to take a beating _________________ You Can Fix Alot Of Things In This World But...

There was a link i found somewhere for taping up your hands, will find it again and post it up. _________________ 08 Raptor 700SE

Take a tablespoon of cement and harden up. I think i remember someone saying about putting metho on your hands every night for a week before you race. Toughens the skin up. Watch what you touch though. Something like that anyway. _________________ "If in doubt go flat out"

Here is the link i mentioned above
http://www.dirtrider.net/patburroughs/hand_taping.htm
here are the pillow top grips i'm trying tomorrow
http://www.btosports.com/p/PTPILLOW
also if you piss on your blisters and let it soak for a few minutes they are supposed to go away real quick and your hands will also dry up and harden...old wives tale _________________ 08 Raptor 700SE

Not quite true about pissing on your blisters and they will go away, but if you you get dirt in your blisters and have no water, urine is sterile so worst case you could wash your wounds. _________________ Cheers,
