I have a Pro Design Air filter on my 2001 Banshee, are you suppose to leave the airfilter box lid off to get max performance (air flow)?

Thanks Gary

Is it the Pro Design with K&N or their foam filter?

In regards to my bike (YFZ450), I preferred to keep the lid on. It reduces the amount of cr@p that enters the box. I would also expect it to run a little more 'leaner' without the lid, so you'd maybe have to re-jet.

what bigjon said, you will get more performance with the lid off, even more without a box and just pod filters, you will probably need to adjust your jetting as well, but depending on your conditions you may want to leave it on

I went for a ride with group of people yesterday, they had 450"s two wheelers!!
It was all types of terrain almost 100Klm's all up, from foot high grass with bloody ant hills that you just don't see even after you hit them, dry & wet river crossings, i have discovered that the Banshee doesn't like water that covers the engine depth wise, it seamed like the engine was flooding going through the water, maybe the water was making it to the air cleaner, this happened the first two crossings so I decided to take it easy through the next crossing but wasn't as deep & had no probs.

I am very glad that i put on the rear bash plate cause holly crap it was copping a flogging from large rocks, ant hills, branchs. When i got home yesterday, off to the shop to order an under body bash plate to protect the frame & engine, it was copping it as well.

I spent about 2 hours removeing spear grass from the radiator & striaghtening the finns i haven't finished that job yet (maybe fly screen next time)

Overall the Banshee did it with eze & i only ended up with mussle soreness today

I should of taken the camera, but i did take five Ltrs of fuel strapped to the rear bar.

"Great outing" Cheers Gary laughing P.S much more to tell but have to take the billy lids to school.

I had a mate go to fountain springs via Duchess road, he said it was about 130km from the outskirts of town to the cloncurry highway(dirt all the way).
We were planning on doing it this weekend but couldn`t organise anyone to look after the kids.... Crying or Very sad

We followed the route on google earth and it was bloody long and also me mate said it was a bit overgrown too...we`ll do it one day.

Hi Brumpy, we went along Duchess Rd maybe 5-10 K's along the dirt road, unloaded the bikes in the bush & followed some tracks that led to the power lines, then 40 odd K's to east Leichardt river for a swim.

They are talking of going to a place what they call Paroo I don't think its on the map & the town of Paroo is a long way from the Isa. I think its about the same distance as to east Leichardt, I'll be taking along extra fuel just in case.

Cheers Gary

[quote="bigjon"]Is it the Pro Design with K&N or their foam filter?

Bigjon, i do know the airfilter foam filters have pro design printed on it, I'm not sure if the rest of the filter is pro design or not. Also not sure if their is anything stamped on the alloy flange/attachment bolted into the air box, is their a way of telling what is what between the two.???
