bought a cheap bike due to non running and needing new kickstart.. 92 suzuki rm 250 (good nick ) .. new plug and coil but no spark(alllegedly) and havent checked due to needing new kick start but was reported no spark before it broke. plenty of compression and kill switch works as i put meter over it . so, how do i test the cdi ? or any other ideas ? the bike was running and just died... i put a meter to test continuity across magnet on the magneto housing and the sensor/pickup underneathand it seems to work(got resistance/voltage when contact made. ....any suggestions on how to diagnose the issue or cheapest parts to replace first...or any ideas in general.

what were the readings on the stator and trigger?
get a kick start lever for it first so you can kick it and see.....

i assume the trigger is pick up sensor at bottom of magneto ? dont know mate tbh... i have a meter but not sure where/how to test it.. or related parts...but yeah, need a kickstart...although it conformedby previous owner that no spark was at the plug..

all sorted now as it was a woodruff key that was broken... new one in and she is all good...i hope... 
going to sell it and try and get a banshee... need to sell it first though..or swap it ...
