hey guys, i guess this is the right section for this topic...

anyway i have lost the key for my raptor 700 Sad i guess the upside of losing it is now the house is spotless because i have looked and cleaned every corner of the place but still cant find the bastard!

how do i go about getting a replacement? would it just be a matter of calling a dealer and telling them the vin number? any idea on cost?

cheers Smile

They need the key number. If you haven't written it down your out of luck. Next bet is to find a second hand key switch assembly. eBay US or bike wreckers may have one.

Here's one on US eBay. Sounds a bit expensive, but they are out there.

Make sure you get a spare cut Razz

oh wicked, just found the pre-delivery inspection certificate and it has the key number on it!! wooo hahaha

so i guess it would just be a matter of contacting the dealer, telling them the key number and ordering 12 keys? im feeling that it could be expensive... thanks for the help mate Very Happy

I've taken ATC locks with no keys to the locksmith on the main street at Belmont and he has cut keys to suit. Can't see quads being any different.

I tried that one time and the locksmith said no way. Maybe he just didn't want to do it.

i just called inskip and they said they cant help - even with the key code Sad they recommended i call Frosts and tell them the code, but the guy i spoke to mentioned that it would be one better and maybe cheaper to take the barrel into the store and get a key made to suit?

either way it looks like a locksmith is the answer. ill give lake macquarie locksmiths a buzz Smile but i get the feeling saying "a green human sent me" might sound a little strange? Razz

sounds like they're giving you the run around... I did the exact same thing with my raptor and it wasn't a problem. took the ignition to a locksmith.... two days later he had two new keys for it... think it cost me about $30
