A new user this week posted a topic regarding problems they have been having with a Can-Am Max800XT.

The thread was moved to a moderators area temporarily, and I've been advised Can-AM have begun working with the user to help resolve the issues outlined in the post.

As the moderators group have been actively discussing the moderation of it, once the issue is resolved, a summarised version of the thread will be copied back here along with what the final response from Can-Am was - minus the extra debate not related to the issue itself.

Should you have issues with manufacturers or suppliers, please take them up with the manufacturers or suppliers directly as your first avenue. If you are dealing with a dealer, and are unhappy, please then try and contact the supplier or manufacturer directly, as they would appreciate the feedback about problems that are effecting them.

Should you have issues with moderators on the site, please PM ADMIN directly with details of your issue and the post that was moderated, and which moderator was involved.

this Has happened before and no action has been taken. WHY now ? If somebody has a problem with a brand that I ride I sure would like to know about it. If you say that kind of thing isn't allowed I suppose I will get on a different chat room, sorry Forum but thats not really what this is.

Has happened before and action was taken too Graham, all depends on who's attention it gets brought too.

If you read the forum guidelines (posted as a sticky up near the top of this section) then you'll see that the forum admin have the right to be able to take off post that they see as breaching the terms of the forum.

So what ya saying is, if some one rips you off your not allowed to tell anyone about it, I though that was what this forum was about gee nothings changed since Polaris ripped me off. Admin always protecting big buisness and never the member.

Everyone knows my view on this. So, why bother having a 'Buyer & Seller Feedback' if you can only post positive?

I realise this isn't a democracy and 'Admin' rules the roost (and so he should), but I frequent many forums and this is the only one that discourages negative feedback. What are we afraid of? Litigation? I'm not a solicitor but I'm pretty confident the site is not responsible for libel if someone's opinion is their C@n-@m sucked. The manufacturer would have to prove it doesn't, and I think the quad owner would have a pretty good case if manufacturer decided to sue for libel.

Also, it looks like the topic originator is now having the manufacturer take him seriously and is working on rectifying his problems. Constructive feedback, be it positive or negative is good for the consumer.

Lastly, is it me or do all the topics that are doomed for deletion concern only one manufacturer. For example, I don't see the Suzuki LTR-450 topics about bad transmissions being removed, or the oil mod needing done on pre '07 YFZ450's, etc......

And another thing........

Why aren't atv manufacturers actively on this site? They should be on here answering questions and taking feedback. The first one that does would get major kudos with us.

As a matter of fact, I propose the first manufacturer that does this should get their own topic forum free for a year. Sorry Patrick Smile

Leave the original topic as is. The manufacturer should be on here rectyfing the guys concern. If the manufacturer doesn't want to address his issues, so be it, they can then live with the poor publicity. This whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth. I for one want to hear the manufacturer's response to this guys issue.

For example, I'm a frequent poster on another site. This guy had horrible problems with a 2 post car lift. Everything from getting it delivered to after sales service. The sales rep for the company replied and explained the reasoning behind the perceived bad service. No excuses, just stated facts. Acknowledged the issues and then worked with the guy in private to fix his problems. The guy later posted saying he would buy from company again after the experience with the sales person. That sales rep turned a negative comment into future sales with all the forumers on that site.

Hi, just some info on this. I have been in constant contact with Can Am concerning issues with this piece of junk since Feb 07 via E mail and nunerous phone calls. The person I was dealing with was the state rep which was forwarded on from Can Am Aust HQ. So when people say I should have taken it up with Can Am ,I think that nearly 2 years of constant phone calls and E mails should qualify. I can only asume that this is why it is now being resolved as they HAVE proof of my dealings with them from that date. I think that if I had not posted on this forum the issues would not have been resolved, so thank you to all the people that have helped with this. Nothing has been resolved yet but at least I have some progress. Also found a dealer willing to listen thanks Colin.

Mate, your going through the same problems I had with Polaris 2 years ago concerning an Outlaw and a Sportsman 800 and Admin are treating you the same way they did me. The best advice I can give ya is, 1 engage a solicitor its amazing how people jump when you got one. 2 always buy Jap or European and never buy anything from the USA or Canada. By the way our local dealer just dropped Polaris like a hot potato so I suppose the antics of Polaris even got to them. I wish ya the best of luck

I agree with big jon on the issue , this guy would not of had any response had it not been for this forum , so as far as im concerned this forum is a winner due to a positive outcome that could of been rectified by the manafacturer had their relevant customer enquiry sections been working.

What!!!!!

Selling your bike?

Demand a replacement quad NOW!!!! Mate, don't wait for their phone calls. Call them now 02 9794 6600!
Email both Australia and Canadian head offices. Write a letter of demand with a response date. Better yet, get a solicitor to right a letter of demand on your behalf (pretty cheap).

I realise this may be a one off with Can Am, but there name is MUD to me until I hear your satisfied. Keep us updated.

As far as I'm concerned thats theft. It's not their property to sell.

I'm with bigjon here, you need a letter of demand - full refund and compensation.......

Good to see. Thanks Colin.

Looking forward to having a Can-Am dealer on this forum to answer Can-Am queries.

Still think Can-Am themselves should participate in this topic. I also think all the other manufacturers should hop on every once in a while to talk about and answer questions about their products.
