My husband's 4 months old 2008 LTR developed a nasty rattle in 3rd gear, so he returned it to the dealer for warranty work. That was 6+ weeks ago and it is still not fixed. Getting jack of the situation, he rang Suzuki Australia to complain and instead of a possible solution was given a few tips on how to ride it so as not to break it -
Avoid quick gear changes
No racing
Avoid hard packed ground
No cherry bomb
No wide axle
No oversize tyres
Go easy on 3rd gear

Hope this information is helpful to you all!!! laughing laughing laughing

so what your saying is get a ltr put it in you shed and dont use it and then you wont affect your warranty?? what a load of crud..they are probly holding it till the warranty runs out then give it back to you and if you have any issues after that its your problem ??

at least that would seem to be an admission of the problem from suzuki, if they are giving out tips on how to stop it happening then they must acknowledge that it is happening...

This is the same crap they tried to tell me, you shouldn't have put the cheery bomb on it , you shouldn't have been racing it,(although is says on the web site , and i quote: don't just race , race to win.)

Trust me your husband did not do anything wrong this is a suzuki third gear fault, it makes no difference how the bike has been ridden or raced it would have taken a dump in its gearbox sooner or later.

Pm wadey about the billet gears for these things i got a set for mine and they seem to be holding up well. Dont even bother putting suzuki third gears back in the turd because it will just take another crap in the gearbox and you will have to fork out more money to fix it again.

Oh yeah, if suzuki aust tell you if they find it to be a factory fault they will pay for labor, dont believe it , they tried to tell me the same thing and still charged me. My 08 ltr only had 5 hours on it before i found bits of tooth when changing the oil and they just put the blame back on me, they told me the same crap they told you, although the wide axle is a new one i have not heard before. How can you make it wider, its as wide as it can be from factory, they must be running out of bullsh%t to tell there customers.

Raine450 the only way to stop this from happining again is to do what i will be doing from now on, and that is to walk right past the yellow "s" dealership and walk right in to another manufacture's showroom and unloading my coins there.

Cheers dave.

Are we going to burn it? Should I put mine on too?
Hubby picked up the LTR from the dealer today, all fixed, but for how long? As we have two of them, it will be interesting to see which one goes next!!!

the 07's had a similar problem, suzuki tried to fix it with the 08 gearbox unsuccessfully as it breaks the same gears

I didnt say they were the same, the point I was making was Suzuki changed the gearbox from 07 to 08 to try to correct the fault except it seems to have got worse.... I dont think I need to write a list of all the ones I know of do I.....
