 |
|
Australian ATV Action would like to commence a quad "Readers Rides" page in the mag, very similar to Dirt Wheels or my "Triker Hall Of Fame" page that currently runs every issue.
Normally we can get 6 pictures and the captions on one page so if your keen to show your mug and your quad here's what we need, dont be shy !
* Picture of you and your quad.
OR
*Action shot at your local ride spot.(Helmet must be worn or wont be accepted)
NOTE: PICTURES MUST BE GOOD QUALITY AND RESONABLY CLOSE UP (NO DISTANCE SHOTS)
Info with your picture will be required i.e
* NAME
* TOWN/CITY & STATE
* QUAD MODEL/MAKE/YEAR & ANY MODS (no need for long lists just a quick overall)

Got to say I was one of the people who pushed for this section even before I was part of this forum.
In that regard I can only encourage people to sent in pics of their rides, washed, dirty, getting dirty, in action.
Thing is to be more than our current cottage industry we need growth.
Growth = advertising = public forum = ATV Action
People will wanna get involved because they see fun.
want fun - see fun - do fun.
Post your old stuff, your new stuff, this mag isnt just for us its for the people who WANNA BE like us. To get them you gotta show em fun.
So laugh it up, resurect a bike in a tree (Yogie??) getting towed out of a bog, getting two inches of air under your 7 yr old. The good, the not so good and the outright ugly.
People in the sport equals power with the polies and you know we need it and can do it.
Sorry if that offends anyone, but like I said, I pushed for it to be there, now Im going to push for people to be involved coz when I asked for it I was told there was no support.
PROVE ME WRONG!!!
Regards

Definately both the kind of work I'd like to see, but Im just the guy doing the encouraging not making a mag.
So I'll leave it the them to judge.
But if it was me I'd looking at a half page to a page on the tour by you outback.
And Of course in terms photo's slammer, I dont know what they want for details but likely, where and whats ride it is and a name to call you by. But the photo Yeehaa!! Who doesnt want to??? And are they still breathing?? What an action shot! Looks like a thunderstorm, like quad meets Mars or something, its frikin art!
We want to get this stuff in issue by issue, get your camera's along on your rides and remember diversity.
Dont think any photo is too mundane, just get it in there with few details, to give people something to work with.
Just remember to submit as per Aussieduners instructions above.

There will always be plenty of negative ideas and thoughts whenever you
talk about these so called "Chinese Crap". However what we all need to remember is that not all can afford even a secondhand jap item so therefore why not help these people to choose the best product within
there reach financially.
At the end of the day it's all about growing the numbers of people involved
in our great sport and if that means people starting on cheaper machines
then so be it. Lets just help to choose between what's good and not so good by all getting our heads together, maybe there could be some kind of rating scale put up on the forum for the most popular 5-10 bikes in each
capacity catagory. Not sure what others reckon but maybe can come up with lists of companies that are good to deal with, with good products and for safety reasons steer people away from the truly dangerous/dodgy
gear/operators out there.
Just my two cents worth, pesonally I think we need to grow our sport by
promoting family involvement and possibly these chinese machines will enable more families to test it out and then progress into better machines
as they become "addicted" like the rest of us.
Cheers Dean.
Absolutly spot on digger. And lets face it Feralkid has shown us all exactly how its got to be done, his review of these quads has be fantastic, and has already given any buyer out there a list things to do and what look out for, he certainly hasnt said its great, buy it blah blah, but told us of his problems, eg the frame needed welding on his, and the comparioson between his model and the current updated version is great and for such a young kid he needs to be congratulated for being unbiased about the quad. No doubt he'd love a jap quad one day but what a great basing this has been (still) for him. So Spud go and buy the thing, enjoy it, take some or all of the advice given here, and enjoy it, and get onto feralkid via hereand get even more detailed info about the quad.
In the same frame of mind, if anyone reads a Mens gadgit magazine called Gaere out of the UK (look out for it if you have not seen it before it'll be with the PC mags and you'll wana buy everything.) they have a section at the back monthly of what the top ten in each market segment is and because the market changes so quickly in consumer electronics they update each month.
I'd love to see this added to ATV action. And lets not have the bikes ridden by racer writers used to $15+ race bikes per week, lets get it ridden by johnny on the spot whose looking at putting his money down.
Every 2 months people can register in which bracket they want to buy and they can go out and test ride bikes in their respective categories. Maybe 2 months is too short but maybe 6 months?
Given the increased circulation lets give em a $ gift voucher to spend at a store who'se sponsoring the frikin mag.
Great review feral, lot of maturity in that.

The submissions coming in are excellent, mixture of sport and ag quads plus some junior riders so a good mix.
