just brought a 06 yfz the guy has only ridden for about a year due to a shoulder reconstruction. i am looking at doing a top end rebuild, what parts should i replace and should i go aftermarket piston or oem for reliability. i have been reading alot on the yfzcentral about the oil mod is this a worth while mod for a 06 model bike

its def time to do the top end mate, if its a standard engine it probably only needs new piston and rings, check the barrel for any scores or marks etc, get the head serviced 2. As for the oil mod i've heard its a good thing to do, but i'd recommend using a case of a '07 which has the oil jet factory done and also use a high volume oil pump off an '07. Really just comes down to how much ya want to spend..

make sure ya change oil every 5 or so hours of ride time!!
